I can’t believe I’m saying it, but Mitch McConnell is better than Lindsey Graham. I hoped against hope that after win ing another 6 years, Lindsey would moderate himself again. Instead he is as far as I know now the ONLY major GOP figure who has implicitly endorsed ignoring the vote and letting state legislatures pick alternative Republican electors. Mitch wasn’t having that s—t, just said all the votes need to be counted.

I know people joke a lot about Graham being gay, but I genuinely suspect Trump has some sort of psychosexual hold on him.

I know there are apparently many gay people here based on earlier in the thread. I don’t want to offend anybody but for those of you who are gay and/or have ties to the gay community:

1. What does your gaydar say about Graham indeed being gay?

2. Do you think this is sufficient to explain the change we have seen in his behavior for the past few years?

I mean, if you are gay you should know better than anybody how perceptions of being gay have shifted since Obergefell, and how likely it is that someone would go out of their way to betray everything they ostensibly believe in to avoid being outed.

Graham "pings" in my opinion. If I saw him out and about, I'd think him more likely gay than not.

That said, I don't know his personal situation well enough to say whether it is sufficient to explain his recent behavior. I'll tell you this — I grew up in a small town where alcohol was still illegal until just ten years ago... I was terrified of being outted back then. I would have wound up dead in a ditch somewhere.

So, I don't know Graham's particular situation. If he were outted, his career would be over, but I imagine, given the power of his position, that he'd be in a lot safer place than I was. But who knows?

Would it really be over though? I mean he’s just won another 6 years. What is SC gonna do, recall him somehow? By 2026, he’ll probably have to be pro-gay to survive anyway.

It would be over in 2026, and I doubt he'd want it to be.

He may also have friends and/or family he is afraid of losing.

OK, I’m going to post one of my most conspiratorial and controverisal theories:

Lindsey Graham is gay and was IN LOVE with John McCain. Wasn’t just friends with him, had an unrequited romantic attraction to him. This is what kept him relatively grounded and moderate, the type of “maverick” who praised Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton, for years.

But when McCain died, everything changed. Not just because the man he was in love with was gone, but also because the Trump camp dug deep enough to find evidence of Graham’s relatively open secret. And he is so terrified of being outed, he will do ANYTHING to avoid it, including disgrace the memory of the man he loved and betray his own principles.

Probably more fanfic than reality, but it's not entirely out of the question.

I think it's more likely he's just afraid for his career and maybe losing friends/family.

Anyway, I'm going to bed. The way the counts are being conducted is a disgrace. Every normal human being in the world is desperate for this to end, but people like some web developer in Georgia just HAVE to get their beauty sleep and don't have anyone who can fill in for them while they do. Unreal.

Not having anyone who can fill in for them... that is, indeed, unreal. smh

Newsflash: Trump is losing every uncalled state besides Alaska.

You're forgetting NC, right?

Biden is going to win NC. Ballots have until the 12th to arrive.

I wish you were right. I can see a world where he wins NV, AZ, GA, and PA... but not one where he wins NC. Just my opinion.

NC is potentially doable for Biden (although perhaps a bit of a stretch).

There are over 2x votes outstanding compared to the size of the Trump lead....

Most of these are in the heavily DEM strongholds so a 2:1 Biden lead could do it (Even w/o late arriving ballot anticipated lawsuits).

Figure you already know that being a DEM from NC, but figured I would put it out there for those who haven't been tracking, and I had a few people ask me why I didn't consider NC to be a lock for Trump in the early Morning hours after Election Night.   Wink

It's not impossible, but it would take a near miracle. Trust, I wish it would happen, and I'm not a concern troll, but I just don't see NC happening. Not this time.

Does Mr Historically Sexy have a chance? Or at least a better one than Biden?

No, unlike Cooper, he's running behind Biden. Gov. Cooper was reelected, though, but he always ran ahead of Biden, even in the polls.

When all said and done its going to be close probably less than a 1 point for Trump.

I concur.

Irrespective of who wins or loses Georgia, Trump performed better virtually everywhere than the Republicans did in 2018, yet Brian Kamp won the governorship in Georgia by 53,000 votes.  I think this provides even more evidence that Brian Kamp stole the governorship.

And/or, Georgia is sick of Kemp's sycophancy at the expense of his constituents.

Seen drag shows that have taken longer over my decades...  even as a straight boy but plenty of familiarity with the joints... Wink

I was the producer/promoter of a major drag contest for ten years. Final night of our contests went over four hours some years.

Oh, and one year, when I was leaving nationals in Kentucky, the sun came up as I got in my car...

How likely is it that Trump and Tillis still lose NC? I’d say Trump is a 70% favorite to hold NC and Tillis maybe 95%, does this seem accurate?

Some outlets have already called the Tillis race, I think.

I’d say GA and NC. I’m still really disappointed that Biden couldn’t win NC as well.

I am, too. He should have visited more. He only came, like, three times? Trump was here every damn weekend. He was here an annoying amount.

Dems winning NC is definitely possible. We just reelected our fairly popular Democratic Govenor by a 4.5% margin (And he's likely to get 5% as more votes come in.)

I think it just has to be the right kind of Democrat and the right kind of campaign—like what Obama did when he took NC.

Anyone know how this is going over with Trumpists?

They believe the Supreme Court will flip it.

At least, that's what I gather from their responses on Twitter.

Were you ice skating or roller blading?

I'm a figure skater Smiley

The only times I've left my home since Tuesday have been to train. Each time I do, I'm terrified I'll miss a major call. I missed Wisconsin and Michigan on Wednesday and had to learn about those calls from my coaches. Sad

Wow, so I just spontaneously burst into tears (and I very rarely cry).  72-hours in and this election finally broke me!

Think I need to take my own advice and step away from my screens for a bit....right after the next PA drop.

In the words of Bill O'Reily, "DO IT LIVE!"

Is this legit or a parody?

It is August 2021. President Biden just had a gaffe where he calls AOC “that queens firecracker”. Meanwhile, John King is on air saying they can’t call Pennsylvania because the Trump team said Amish provisionals will be great for them.

Epic.
