If what I hear is true about the potential weakness of the legal case, then I have concern for what will happen if they do arrest him. I don't want Trump being able to (truthfully) claim victimhood.

Aren't you the one who keeps saying Obama appeased Putin too much? Maybe you had a point. Obama is too "No Drama" for his own good, and frankly always has been. He basically abandoned everyone when we needed him the most, when he could have been the rallying point for the "resistance" against Trump. I no longer give much of a f--k what Obama says. He represents a different, more naive time.

This reminds me of how QAnon would keep setting up dates that they "calculated" based on Q info that Trump would order the mass arrests while he was in office or the dates that he supposedly would be reinstated and returned to power afterwards. After all of those ended up obviously false Q communities now actually frown on "date fagging" because of exactly this.

It's possible Trump might get indicted here and plenty of other cases as well. But predicting exact dates like this is a fool's errand.

There were probably some last-minute changes done behind the scenes.
In any case, things like this can happen for very mundane reasons I guess. Not worth pretending there is some "grand plan" that demands it happens on a given day and all of that.

I will say it’s funny that Forumlurker and I are somehow on the same side here while Courts and Ferguson are the other lol .

Personally, I don't know which side I fall on here, though I like the fact it seems a lot of evidence was brought to bear. But if we still get a weak case and it goes to trial and fails, it is worse than if he never got indicted at all.
I don't care about Trump going to jail or not. There are more important things in the equation.

You know what is hillarious? When a reporter asked him why it took so many votes to elect him speaker. He played it off like its a good thing. He said "We learned how to govern". Dude, you have lead the caucus for more than a decade, you just now learned to govern?

TBF my position is just that demographic changes spurred from migration from the midwest to the south and polarization give Trump a shot (as does the GOP engaging in voter suppression and/or embracing VBM). I don’t anticipate vote switchers en masse.

I mean...the thing is that there actually are people who think the way theflyingmongoose is accusing them of thinking. Most Americans are, despite everything, at least a bit more self-aware than that, but there is a nonzero segment of the electorate comprising people who will swear up and down they don't like Trump unless the immediate context is voting on whether or not he should be President.

For a lot of people, a vote for Trump has nothing to do with him personally. It's a vote for "me and my way of life is valid too, regardless of what those liberals claim".

Computer96 is hardly any more in tune with Republicans than the red avatars are. This is a guy who earlier this week thought George Bush would be a good surrogate for DeSantis.

If he wins the nomination, and I specifically said in Arizona and Georgia where there are many swing voters who liked Bush but hated Trump .

Those voters are called Democrats now. The days of R+20 Rockdale County are gone. And any popularity Bush once enjoyed here is now gone.

In all fairness, Rockdale County became Democratic because of demographic shifts, not because of voters switching loyalties.

Wow! District Attorney Bragg just illegally LEAKED the various points, and complete information, on the pathetic Indictment against me. I know the reporter and so, unfortunately, does he. This means that he MUST BE IMMEDIATELY INDICTED. Now, if he wants to really clean up his reputation, he will do the honorable thing and, as District Attorney, INDICT HIMSELF. Even if your characterization is true (which it likely is not) -- ADAs in Manhattan still can't couldn't ask for remand per Bragg's 2022 directive. They can ask for remand for basically only murder and a few rarer charges (repeat Domestic violence-related, sex-offenders)

I can straight up  tweet a pic of the judge's daughter, with her address, and tell people to go kill her. Under Bragg's Day One memo (still in force), I can't get remanded

I'm sure Bragg would make an exception in that case.
And that he would do so while not seeing the error of his ways does reflect badly on him.
