Embarrassed to be represented by Hyde-Smith.

You've had an Alaska avatar for years IIRC. Consider switching to D-MS if you live in MS.

He has that avatar because it reads DAK, as in Dak Prescott (because he's a huge Mississippi State fan), if I remember correctly.

Apparantly the YouGov poll says that 68% of Republicans don't think the storming of the Capitol building is a threat to democracy and only 28% of Republicans blame Trump for actions of those who stormed the Capitol building.

As pathetic as that is, Republicans can't win elections if 28% of their base thinks they're traitors to the Country (which they are).

I’m appalled at the number of “Republicans” on my Facebook feed who think what happened today is either OK because the election was rigged, Democrats’ fault, or a false-flag conspiracy by Antifa. No evidence presented for any of the three points, of course.

But it would suggest that they do stand a chance of being beaten in a GOP primary

Republicans would lose in a landslide if that many members of their party defected. In 1964, when defeating Goldwater by 22 points, Lyndon Johnson got 20% of the Republican vote according to Gallup exit polls. Unfortunately, as this election showed, most of that 28% will stuck with their party regardless of what their politicians do.

Romney is furious.

I have lots of issues with Romney. And I often counter and disagree people I know relentlessly praising him for just being anti-Trump or whatever.

But he is in the right here. And he is speaking the truth, and I respect him for it.

Romney, as the only Republican to vote for Trump's impeachment in either House of Congress, is the only Republican who has credibility in condemning Trump for what he has done.

That's a separate issue though for impeachment as that had to do with Ukraine issue , unless one wants to go down the purely political purpose of impeachment.

This is honestly the harshest I’ve ever seen the GOP rebuke Trump outside of the usual suspects like Romney, Flake, etc.

Too little, too late of course. But could this mean the tide is turning for the future? Or is it impossible now for them to contain the monster they have unleashed?

My only critique of Toomey's analysis is that he should have focused more on Trump doing better than 2016 in Philly, as that's where Trump claimed there was massive fraud.

I don't know what's more frustrating: Hearing Pence & Mitch speak or folks actually feeling comfort them despite their culpability of today's actions.

There are a lot of people responsible for this. But Mitch's culpability is far more limited than Trump's.

Bulsh**t. He and every other party establishment Republican barring an extreme view like Romney coddled and encouraged Trump every step of the way the Last 5 Years in order to get their tax cuts and conservative packed federal courts. He had plenty of opportunity to even attempt raining in the presidents worst behaviors, and never even lift it up Pinkie because it got in the way of his above-mentioned master plan.

It means they're trying to contain the monster, but it's too early to tell if they have any chance of success.

Anyway, is there a reason to keep watching the Senate livestream at the moment?

We don't have a country anymore.  The BLM riots all summer set the stage for this.  There's no going back now.

Now that the dust has settled, I hope we can all at least recognize that those calling for the police to fire on the protestors was absolutely insane.  They handled the situation absolutely appropriately and minimized the carnage.  The Congress is already back in session and it doesn't appear that there is any irreparable damage.  It could have been a LOT worse if people had let their emotions direct them.

We don't have a country anymore.  The BLM riots all summer set the stage for this.  There's no going back now.

The guy blaming today on the "BLM riots" is now praising law enforcement for not fighting back against a physical takeover of the US Capitol during an active session of Congress.

How dense can you be?
