Chill out about DeSantis opening the beaches. It’s down pouring rain here, and should some of our red avatars ever leave their basement hideaway they’d know that the beach in Florida is very, very, very long. I think the beach is way more safe than a grocery store or doctor’s waiting room.

Stop being such a apologist for bad judgment. The photo above of Jacksonville Beach taken from a VERY wide angle (so no whining about "out of context", etc.) shows a very busy beach that is clearly begging for a bio bomb of an outbreak.

The beaches are also at opposite ends of the spectrum of necessity from the grocery or a doctor. That really should be apparent.

This is a decision that clearly puts business (and feeding the political base) first, and public health last.

Yep. I dont get how anyone can even look at the Jacksonville pic that was posted and think this is okay.

In sort of a spillover from America, 500 people assembled today in the center Berlin to protest the still ongoing lockdown in Germany. A few of the protestors reportedly wore "Trump 2020" shirts, others identified themselves to journalists as QAnon believers or opponents of "vaccination terrorism".

The fact you "DGAF" is very apparent, and establishes that your views on the matter should be disregarded

Trying to place the onus on personally "not going outside", is akin to saying "Get rid of the speed limits, and if you don't like it just don't drive fast.". Not only will too many ignore self governing restrictions, but their recklessness will also kill tens of thousands of innocents who do use common sense.

Few societal matters occur in a vacumn, and I suggest a viral pandemic is dead last among them.

I'm plenty disappointed with Trump's performance with the crisis, but the fact that NowThis is using "Trump" instead of "government" is all you need to know.

But isn't Trump and his Administration "the government"? Expecting executive leadership from Congress or the Judiciary (regardless of party) isn't just unrealistic, it's contrary to the fundamental organization of our government.

Also, did you actually watch the video? It's presented by one of if not the most knowledgable person in the country about how an administration has and should respond to a viral outbreak crisis, and lays out in very matter of fact terms how the Trump and his cohorts repeatedly, consistently, screwed up their response (or lack thereof) to the outbreak. If you haven't, I strongly suggest doing so.

Maybe NowThis's use of semantics truly isn't all we need to know here. Wink

The anti-quarantine protests by rightwingers and Trump and the Republican Party's support of them are radicalizing me against the GOP.

How much more radical can people get nowadays without strapping on vests?

The Trump Administration is deporting sick people to Guatemala

Real appropriate priorities during a time of a pandemic, I see.

Edit:Tribes sue over distribution of coronavirus relief funding
Quote
Several Native American tribes sued the federal government Friday, seeking to keep any of the $8 billion in federal coronavirus relief for tribes kept out of the hands of for-profit Alaska Native corporations.

The U.S. Treasury Department is tasked with doling out the money by April 26 to help tribes nationwide stay afloat, respond to the virus and recover after having to shut down casinos, tourism operations and other businesses that serve as their main moneymakers.

The Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation and the Tulalip Tribes in Washington state, the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians in Maine, and the Akiak Native Community, Asa’carsarmiut Tribe and Aleut Community of St. Paul Island in Alaska filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C.

The U.S. Treasury Department, named as the defendant, did not immediately return an email seeking comment.

Already, tribes had raised questions about the distribution of the funding.

We've hit a plateau all right. A testing plateau.

Even the CDC's numbers are showing the same thing:

‘Scientific breakdown’ at CDC lab led to coronavirus testing delays, report says

I think now that testing is in the spotlight the testing situation will improve.

Angry Boomers protesting in Wisconsin.

I've seen these protests referred to as the "No Lives Matter" movement.
