White Supremacist Ideas Have Historical Roots In U.S. Christianity

And a quote that is relevant to our current era:

Quote
Some white Christian leaders have even provided moral and theological reasoning for their reluctance to challenge the existing system. Evangelicals in particular generally prioritize an individual's own salvation experience over social concerns. The primary mission of the church in this view is to win souls for Christ. Working for racial justice, in contrast, may be seen as a "political" issue.

"In that configuration, immorality only lives in the individual person," said Dupont, the religion historian who grew up in Texas. "There's no conception of systemic injustice and systemic sin."

Civil rights activists who cited the Bible in support of their cause were often dismissed as "a bunch of theological liberals," Dupont said. "And then it becomes an argument about who really believes the Bible. If Christianity is really about individual salvation, and the mission of the church is to win the lost, then [it is said that] these people who are telling us we need to get involved in the civil rights movement are just trying to lead us astray."

Why is bigotry against christians allowed?

I'm not seeing any bigotry against Christians here. Just someone providing historical context for American white supremacy.

It's certainly likely, but only if Biden wins.

Democrats aren't violent in large numbers the way it seems Republicans are.
Hard to believe anyone would post something this stupid considering the amount of looting and rioting the left has done in the last few months.

Tell me one violent rioter/looter who is voting for Biden.
Actually I know of one, one of my instagram friends went and took part in the rioting in LA and will definitely vote for Biden. Who do you think the BLM rioters will vote for, Trump.

I'll say they'll vote for Hawkins, especially if they are indeed Antifa anarchist socialists.

I know your religion is centrism but, Jesus. You took Fuzzy's stupid point about Biden supporters and made it a stupid point about another candidate's supporters. It's incredibly pointless to speculate about how the bogeyman for fox news viewers is going to vote.

His religion isn't centrism, it is Authoritarian centrism.

I stand corrected.

I don't know what to make of this Jessica character. Casual transphobia ain't cool. But maybe just a joke in bad taste. Either way, not a good post.

Biden signals Al Gore is the pick:

When did Gore become a woman?

Well, the way things are going on the left it wouldn't surprise me. Wink She would probably be a better vice president then most of the choices within my opinion. lol

They're part of his BASE.  They're Joe Biden voters (if they show up).  They're the part of Biden's base that Biden doesn't want to claim.

Very nice of Fuzzy to post directly on to the thread for maximum convenience.

Just for the record, I have a new reported post today, and it is likely this one. Fuzzy, or possibly one of his devoted cultists, reported this. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

It really is long past time to permamute Fuzzy (or at least for us to start reporting everything he posts, since that's basically what he's doing to us.)

What has Fuzzy Bear done to warrant being banned?

Turning everything into a "I'm being persecuted" complex, even when the person being attacked isn't him.

Him being here has done him, and the forum more harm than good.

He doesn't need band, but it is starting to get to the point where he possibly needs quarantine kind of like what happened to SN 019 before Banning, or limo liberal. The analogies are apt. Both of those t w i t s consistently spammed and derailed threads ad infinitum with the same utterly repetitive talking points. Fuzzy is almost to the point of doing the same thing.

Agreed. It gets tiring getting the same old refuted "but what about BLM and Marxists" response to any argument.

Pros:
- makes the ticket possibly the most demographically-representative ticket in history

Except all of the all-white tickets when America was a white country.

So this is what they mean when they say "great AGAIN"

Here we are. As the rest of the world's nations flatten their curves, deals with their outbreaks, and slowly resumes something resembling normal life, the USA is the major outlier.

We have people refusing to wear masks or socially distance, and insisting that schools reopen. We have far, far more cases and deaths every day than other developed countries. And we have a health care system in which many people are afraid to seek testing or treatment due to cost.

Last and most, we have a President who seeks to rush a broken vaccine through in order to get re-elected, which will reduce public trust in a working vaccine once it does come out. And if re-elected, said President will continue to not do anything about COVID.

The effects this has had on the nation's standing, both domestically and internationally, are heartbreaking. The USA is set for another spike soon due to social distancing fraying, flu season isn't far away, and hospitals will be overburdened and have to cancel all non-COVID treatment due to overflowing with patients choking on or drowning in their own bodily fluids as a result of COVID.

Abroad, the US has become a further pariah. As other countries close their borders to Americans, including strong allies like Canada, while opening up to other nations that have dealt with their outbreaks successfully, Americans are seen as disease vectors. If World War II is what began Pax Americana, COVID is what ended it. I don't like that other countries aren't allowing us in, but I support their decision all the same, because we're diseased.

This all saddens me, because I love to travel and won't get to do so during the best years of my life. That said, I agree with their decision even if I'm not happy about it, for the reasons stated above.

If this pandemic ever ends and is relegated to the history books, future generations will learn of COVID-19 as the catalyst for the fall of the United States. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

“Listen to the Scientists” has to be the most naive belief. Conventional Scientists once thought the earth was flat. It took brave men to stand up and prove otherwise.

Believe the Social Scientists. Listen to the Political Scientists. Dr. Fauci has been consistently wrong - he has zero credibility.

Probably thinks no one thought the world was round until Christopher Columbus.

Spreading complete misinformation should be against the rules here. People spouting nonsense like Donald Trump's Toupee should not have equal access to posting.

Come on, man, what he said was objectively false and ridiculous. Difference of opinion is one thing but saying "don't trust the scientists because they have no credibility" is not only wrong, it's dangerously wrong.

No, I don't, because "IDK" is not a sufficient response. If you truly think about things before you say them, you'd have come up with a better answer.

I meant to as an answer to your question of "Then why can't you answer the question?"
Fine. Then answer the question I asked earlier: what is it about my signature that is racist?

Well, the people of Kentucky would have been better off today, had they elected Bevin instead of this incompetent hack Beshear.

His follow-up deserves a mention too.

Conservatives really are a special group of people.

Yes, because the track record of Republican governors in handling COVID has been just stellar across the board.

Yes, it has. The economy of the states with Democratic governors has suffered much more than the economy of the states with Republican governors.

This quarantine period without the innovations created by these billionaires may have fully collapsed American society, and ol' Breadline Bernie's response is to institute an unconstitutional punitive tax/bill of attainder. America dodged a bullet in that primary twice.

The U.S. bombed a pair of weddings in 2008.  One was a mistake and killed 47 civilians.  The other killed 37 civilians but also killed 26 insurgents.

And yet people today, 12 years later, still act like that's the sum of all U.S. foreign policy.  It's been over a decade since we bombed a wedding.  And bombing a wedding full of innocent civilians is a thing that only happened once.

I can't wait until smokers bother to step outside to smoke in Las Vegas.
no doubt the jack boots in this thread would love to see that.  Authoritarians love to see the lessers suffer.

Is it wrong to ask someone to step outside to freaking smoke a freaking cigarette?
the govt using guns to force people to do it?  yes, I think so.

Covid was a deliberate out-of-the-lab attack by Jeff Bezos (Amazon) and/or China, to catch 2 flies with one swat: the defeat of Trump and the destruction of the US local economy (Chinas interest) and the destruction of small, local retailers (Bezosˋ interest) which resulted in a massive boost of online sales, increasing Bezosˋ wealth even more.

He's wrong about China but there's some truth to Bezos. I wouldn't be surprised if Bezos was secretly bankrolling anti mask and Covid denialism activists to prolong the virus.

LOL "evil". There were zero homeless people in Soviet Russia, while people were dying on the streets in Reagan's America, Thatcher's UK, and eventually Yeltsin's Russia.

America has almost objectively been as evil an influence on the modern world as any communist country. Endless coups in Latin America, slaughtering innocent middle easterners for oil, treating her own poor citizens like dogs and whores to be pimped out for medical debt interest and low wages.

I'm not saying the post doesn't belong here, but you look like a guy trying to call someone else out with a Romney signature. C'mon man.

Why do some users sound like they browse either r/socialism or r/communism?
Because some probably do.
This should not be surprising. Furthermore, is this your supposed rebuttal to this factual statement?
well, if it was factual, you would consider it revisionism.
Nope, the Soviet Union actually throughout its history viewed the housing of its citizenry in what was mainly flats to fit one of their selling points to the people. It was under privatization and lack of public investment that homelessness skyrocketed in the 90s under the force of shock therapy.

Out of all the things the Soviet Union did, denying something that most western academics found to be true is kinda galaxy brain, no?

Sure, technically there were zero homeless people in the USSR, but that’s because the government mandated that everyone live in cramped, derelict, apartments shared with 2-7 other families, not because it was some prosperous utopia.

Even if that was true, it's better than the New York metro area with tens of thousands of homeless wandering the streets beneath vacant luxury apartments used as investment holdings for wealthy foreigners and real estate mega companies, while formerly working class neighborhoods have seen rents quadruple.

Yikes. This is the first truly bad, godawful gaffe that he's made since winning the election. You don't want to say this because it'll depend on the situation at the time. Even if it's true, you don't want to say it, you need to give people time to accept it. Saying it right now will just plunge people into useless hopelessness and frustration.

It's not the idea of wearing masks that is the issue, it's the notion that the president is not trying to end the pandemic which is implied by the statement, and that he is merely aiming for it to continue forever. The president is supposed to project hope, ambition and confidence, and stick to the positive.

Meanwhile back in reality, if everybody wore a mask at all times in public, the pandemic would quickly end

You would need an actual effective lockdown and stay at home order as well, which America never had because it's a garbage barge of a country.
