Hitler had more respect for Mussolini that what people here credit. Hitler modeled his Beer Hall putsch on Mussolini's March on Rome, and M was included in high diplomatic meetings (M could speak four languages). Now, all of that changed after 1940, when the incompetence of the Italian army was seen before all the world.

And about foreign names: didn't Churchill say that foreign names should be spelled in a way that an Englishman can pronounce? Thus, for Churchill, the dreary Italian town was "Leghorn", not Livorno; the Soviets laid their Iron curtain from "Stettin" (not Szczecin) in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic; he would be apoplectic to see Myanmar on a map instead of his beloved "Burma"

How long until the South rises again? Southerners seem adamant about the South rising again but it hasn't seem to risen yet.

The south could not rise again if you gave it Viagra.

It is all nonsense about the South having not 'risen'.  The U.S. is entirely run politically by the South.

What do you think about teaching Southern English in Northern schools as a foreign language? Do you think that it would be more popular than Spanish, French or German?

They're doing it in Oakland already.  It's called Ebonics.  It was a bad idea in California, and it's probably a bad idea anywhere else.  My wife can barely understand the local blacks, and I don't think the solution is to get all americans speaking that way, but to try to get these folks speaking US standard english properly.

"Y'all need sumpin else?  No?  A'ight, that be fo fitty fo."
"I beg your pardon."
"Fo fitty fo, biyatch, stop frontin' yo."
----"Hey, just give her a five baby, don't worry about it."
"okay, here's five dollars."
"A'ight, here y'all change:  fotee sik cent."

Peace.  out.

It is a sad, sad smile, however, because no Walmart worker can afford to see the dentist.
