Rauner's as dead as McCaskill, why are we still debating this?

One should not count out a governor this early. Remember that this guy got reelected:

That's what Maine gets for splitting the vote.

His reelection would have still happened if Cutler didn't run in '14.

I'd rather Pritzker be the nominee it will free up a lot of resources for the DGA to spend elsewhere. Money thrown towards IL against Rauner is money not spent in KS, WI, OH, MI etc.
Well Biss and Kennedy aren't exactly poor.

I thank governor Rauner for standing up to the people of Illinois, who can't afford a 32% tax increase.

Thanks to that tax hike from 'slightly less than everywhere else' to 'around average,' I can now call 911 if I need to. I appreciate your concern but I'm honestly fine.

It is not a tax hike of 32%. It is an increase from 3.75% to 4.95%. While technically correct to call it a '32% hike,' it does not accurately reflect the situation. At all.
You're asking Republicans to be honest, man. It's not worth it.

Hope Rauner gets curb stomped.

Question for Illinois Dems/Indies- If Kennedy & Pritzer both suck, who's the best candidate in your eyes? Biss?
Pawar.

Dunno what's more delusional, Democrats who thought Lincoln coukd survive in 2010 or Republicans who think Rauner will survive an election in Illinois with Trump at 35% approvals.
Blanche Lincoln voted for a piece of legislation that was an albatross around the necks of each and every member of the party of the sitting President, especially in her state and its political tilt.

Bruce Rauner is a moderate Republican who is a decent fit for the political tilt of his state.

Probably posted and just missed it, but in case it hasn't: Pawar has picked Cairo mayor Tyrone Coleman as his running mate.

So does no one want to run with Chris Kennedy? LMAO. Even Tio Hardiman (who is apparently a real person) has an LG candidate.

Schneider is a nobody who can't win in an off-year. Biss is better of without him.

Duckworth had said she would wait for the primaries. I guess there really is no hope for Biss, huh?

And he’s not exactly wrong, either. We all know city hall is pro-gentrification. And the black population has decreased by almost 12% since 2010 (Rahm took office in 2011). The less poor blacks around, the rosier the city looks for developers and magnates.

Personally, I wouldn’t take it as far as Kennedy has. But to bring up that city hall is not exactly a friend to the city’s poor and black communities certainly isn’t wrong, and Kennedy should be commended for his bold stance.

* It is from Pritzker's youtube channel, but Kennedy did catch major flak on social media and had to apologize in the post debate press conference
Pritzker actually sounded genuine and gracious during that segment, too. Terrible look for Kennedy.

Ouch!  If I were Rauner, I'd hold my fire until after JB has won the primary.  He might not make it at this point.  Progressives are turning on him.

Yeah, what the hell is he doing? He should wait until JB is the nominee, and then blast him with these ads. This could be a gamechanger, but instead he seems to be trying to get Biss or Kennedy as his opponent?
Maybe he thinks Biss will be easier to beat because he (Rauner) could easily outspend him?

Rauner's people are dumb they could've sat on all of this and let it all out in the general against Pritzker. At least primary voters have a chance to avoid a disaster.
Yeah, I don't know why he didn't keep his powder dry.

I really like Pritzker, I don't see everyone's problem with him. He is a really close second to Chris Kennedy, and I would gladly vote for him against Rauner if I could, and I think he would make a great governor.
He's a billionaire who's too closely connected to the corruption of Blagojevich and will not provide the change Illinois desperately needs.

What's too like?

Some people care about policies, not just "which candidate has less money/I would want to have a beer with."
Pritzker has no policies tho

He's campaigning on implementing a progressive income tax, raising the minimum wage to $15, a state public option, and legalizing marijuana. I would call those policies, and so would the dictionary, but maybe you have a different definition.

Biss meanwhile is campaigning on "MUH NOT RICH" and "don't believe what I said six months ago, believe what I'm saying now!" which is why he's going to get thrashed next month.
That implies I actually believe him to govern that way. That implies I actually believe what he says.

Which I don’t, because he’s just another Illinois Dem lying to gain power to enrich himself and Madigan and their friends. He’s a confidant of Blagojevich for Christ’s sake. Nominating him is political suicide in the single ripest Governor pickup opportunity for Democrats. He is a ticking time bomb due to his blatant levels of corruption. He has the exact same problem Hillary had, only magnified because there is actually a “there” there.

So, yes. Biss is fake as hell. Kennedy has negative charisma. Pritzker is literally the shadiest dude in the race on either side, and for that reason is the weakest general election candidate out of all of them.

There are no good choices. It’s amazing that in a state full of Democrats, this is all the party could muster.
