Funny one in the Braves-Phillies game last night.  Score tied 4-4, Braves with men on first and third with one out, Freddie Freeman at bat.  He hits a comebacker to the pitcher, who whirls toward second to start an inning-ending double play...and finds nobody covering second.  Then he all of a sudden remembers that there was a runner on third, whirls again and throws to the plate -- far too late to prevent the runner from scoring what turned out to be the deciding run.

Phillies deserve the win and Phillies would have won in Extra innings, anyways, but the system is still broken after sports spend all their money on instant replay, the runner didn't tag the base

The system just exposed the umpire system at home, calling balls and strikes

Home plate umpires cheat, because the home plate umpires called the runner safe

Don't be dumb. Bohm's foot touched the plate.

The Braves are just a disgusting franchise so nobody should feel sorry for them.

From other angles it looked like there was a very small gap between his foot and the plate.  But I don't think any of the views were definitive (either way), so it's back to the old "insufficient evidence to overturn the call on the field".

Yeah exactly, it was bang bang.

If I recall correctly, the Braves benefitted from a very prominent blown call against the Pirates years ago, so it's hilarious to see the moralizing here.

No matter how you feel ab the call (imo gotta rule it safe as that's what it was called on the field), that was a great slide by Bohm. Perfect hook.

Bottom of the rotation's gotta be better for them Fightins tho, give up too many runs in the early innings.

After watching the highlights of the two Mets-Phillies games I actually have more confidence than I did for the Mets this year. Time to savour being top.

The 2nd no-hitter of the season happened tonight, as White Sox LHP Carlos Rodón no-hit the Cleveland Baseball Team 6-0. He was 2 outs away from a perfect game.

What is the deal with people not understanding how to put together a decent trade?
In my money league a guy offered me 3 mediocre position players for Trevor Bauer, Not only would I lose arguably the best pitcher in Baseball atm, I would have to drop 2 other players to make room for the other mediocrities.

That trade is garbage though.

deGrom just pitched on the greatest gems of his career, right after he pitched one of the greatest gems of his career last week.

He's better than prime Kershaw, he's better than prime Scherzer, he's better than prime Verlander, and you can't convince me otherwise!

I just realised that the Yankees have the second lowest win percentage so far out of any team this season, which is nice.

This weekend’s Dodgers/Padres series is living up to its hype.  Mookie Betts robs a game-tying hit in the 9th to preserve a 2-0 Dodgers win in last night’s game.

Goodbye Jay Bruce, a real professional. I always liked him ever since he gained my respect when I saw him homer at Citi Field (as a Red) and later I saw him single there (as a Met). But these days, 25-30 homers and a .200 batting average is common and often not worth holding open a roster spot for. His contact severely declined with age, and his home runs aren't enough anymore.

Goodbye FF.

The Red Sox are good and can beat good teams.

That's it, that's the statement.

Good God.......

I just witnessed one of the greatest Mets pitching performances in history. The best Mets game I've ever seen. Incredible. Just incredible. He is the best pitcher in baseball and it's not close. He is better than peak Kershaw, peak Verlander, and peak Scherzer. He is Jacob deGrom.

The A's started the season 0-6.

They are now 14-7. Amazing.
