I agree that the design of the podium and general arena layout was better for the RNC. It's weird that they have the podium set up at the end instead of in the middle.

Here was the DNC in 2008

This year's design is a mess.

Of course they had more $ in 2008 and they have to spread their design budget between the indoor show and the outdoor show on Thursday.

Strickland gave quite the populist speech. Pretty good.

Rahm is coming up. Hoping he drops some f bombs

I thought Kal Penn was funny. He found a way to make an Eastwood joke without being mean spirited

It will be worth switching to the one of the broadcast networks at 7pm to see how the non political junkies will see the convention. One of the things the GOP got wrong was how they organized their final hour each night.

O'Malley was underwhelming. Patrick was much better. Strickland was good to but he isn't a 2016 hopeful

Dems are doing it smart. and in the right order for prime time hour

1. Fiery speech for the base
2. Nice intro video for main speaker
3. Brief introduction (from regular white middleaged mom...key swing demo)
4. Main speaker to appeal to the middle

Michelle is aiming at those Walmart Moms, and it looks like she is doing a good job.

not to sound racist, but there were some seriously misguided hats being worn by some of the African-american women. IMHO

Wow, they just amended the platform to put god and Jeruselem as capital of Isreal back into the platform but it didn't sound like they got a 2/3 aye vote, crowd sounded more 50/50...the GOP are going to make hay out of that.

After showing a lot of message discipline, that platform thing was just embarrassing.

No one is watching but the amending of the platform (and apparent pushing through without 2/3s vote) is going to get played up big time by the conservative press and will probably also get some play in the MSM. It is an unforced error. Not Eastwood talking to a chair level of error, but it kind of shows that the party still fits the old Will Rogers quote "I'm not a member of any organized political party, I'm a Democrat!"

It also helps them play up how the Dems are not pro-Isreal enough and of course a bunch of godless heathens

Not sure if this was posted but here is the schedule for Wed.

Here is their final 'hour'

But there is no way they will be able to do all of that in an hour. I suspect they are shooting to have Bill wrap up the hour of primetime, so the roll call of the states will be going on pretty late.

CNN is reporting that Obama intervened to amend the platform and was supposedly pissed saying "why on earth was it taken out?"...sounds like someone is getting fired

Is there a plausible Romney win w/o OH and VA?  He would have to win every single other swing state to get to 270 and it seems unlikely that Obama would win VA and OH but lose NH and NV

Lets face it, before the final hour the conventions are all about the base. And this is especially true for the Democrats. Every poll shows how they have advantage with RV and not with LV. That means they have to struggle to get out their base more than the GOP, which means they need to push hard to the base. But for network primetime they turn around and become a centrist party full of sunshine and hope for tomorrow.

Halftime for Giants Cowboys just started, just in time for all those NFL watchers to tune into Elizabeth Warren and Sandra Fluke.

Timing?

Always so interesting to watch Fox after what was clearly a good speech. Brit Hume actually had to dip back into Monica Lewinski.  Of course over on MSNBC their raging Clinton hard ons is just as embarassing

I heard Todd on MSNBC allude to it as well.

You had to see what Brit did. He mocked Clinton's waving "crooked" finger and then said "remember that is the same finger that waved when he said 'I did not...with that woman.'" It was very mean spirited
