I'm still voting in person. This could very well be a fake out.

Did they really think no one would notice this?

Republicans and Democrats both have a history of having law enforcement or their own supporters intimidate the other side during election season.

The Black Panthers thing in 2008, the Kean and Whitman thing in 1981 and 1993, Giuliani-associated PBA intimidating voters in 1993.

Quote
On Election Day itself there were massive violations of voters’ Tights at the polls, as police in several instances intimidated people of color. Cops put up phony Dinkins posters in mostly Dominican Washington Heights, saying the INS would be checking voters’ documents at the polls. In some cases police themselves asked Latino voters for their passports. Dinkins held an Election Day noon press conference complaining about these incidents (Attorney General Janet Reno says they will be investigated).

Sure, but tell me the last time the president tried to order it.

Shapiro is correct but he's clearly a little too eager to enter campaign mode for his inevitable gubernatorial run.

Pennsylvania legislators already said they wouldn't do this. I'm most concerned about Michigan here.

Looks like Michigan is now a willing participant in this coup attempt.

Attempt.

Whitmer can appoint board members at will. Michigan will certify tomorrow.

I'm sure dooming about the Wisconsin lawsuit will begin si here's a great thread.

What's the tl;dr here? I don't really have the energy for the legalese this early in the morning. Is this a competently filed and theoretically sound case whose factual claims are unsupported?

Not likely to succeed but a better chance than the others.

If Wisconsin supreme court does the unthinkable this guy seems pretty convinced SCOTUS will overturn it.

Also read an article this morning with a professor from Marquette who studies the Wisconsin supreme court quoted. She thinks it's "very unlikely" they'll rule in Trump's favor.

It's kind of funny watching Trumpists go down the road everybody here expected Bernie to in 2016, from going to open war against people who aren't in the cult, to calls for boycotting the election, to talk of forming his own party.

Most Bernie supporters are decent human beings able to see the long term so that was never going to happen.

Worth noting even the conservatives on it weren't really sold the case had merit:

And with that goes the only credible lawsuit Trump had.

Must sting even more for it to be 4-3, gotta love it.

What exactly happens if Trump keeps filing lawsuits past December 8? Do the ascertainments of electors still fall under safe harbor as long as they're not rescinded?

The way things are going he'll still be filing lawsuits after Biden is inaugurated. And of course every court will continue to clear their schedule for him.

Since these were posted Trump also lost another Wisconsin case and a "kraken" appeal in Georgia was dismissed as well.

National Review has come out against the Texas lawsuit calling it “frivolous” and highly unlikely to go anywhere. If that’s true (and I’m assuming it is but too lazy to read the article because I just don’t care anymore), it blows my mind that this many attorneys general would go along with it.

Attorney general is often the last step before a run for governor or senate. Stunts like this pump up the base.

What will Trump say when the Supreme Court smacks him down again? Will he give up and stop his "election fraud" ranting? Will he switch to pressuring electors or asking Congress to use the Electoral Count Act to overturn the election? Or will he start calling for a (real) coup, possibly demanding that his militias rise up and overthrow the corrupt deep state? Perhaps he might call for the 18 states that supported the lawsuit to declare their independence, upon which he will gladly serve as their God-Emperor for Life?

He will pressure electors and state legislatures.

This Wisconsin case is the last one, right? There's no way there are more of these.

Keep in mind that even if the WI Supreme Court rules with Trump, Biden still gets 296 EV’s

They won't. The bigger question is will they rule in time for the electors to vote.

Best bet is a ruling first thing tomorrow. I think they are going to make changes, perhaps substantial to future elections which is why the opinion is taking some time. Obviously last months results are final.

The Pentagon has suddenly stopped transition briefings, claiming the staff is "overwhelmed."

They insist they will begin again after the holidays.
