I thought it would be best to open a new thread for the Dirty South Executive. Official pronouncements will be made here. Furthermore, citizens of the Southeast should use this thread to voice their opinions, questions, or comments.

Congrats on the election. I'd like to see monthly initiative threads posted regularly again, if that's cool.

While I am a member of the Northeast in the Forum, I'm in the Southeast in Real Life.  Congrats on the victory, and I'm sure you'll lead well. Smiley

NOTICE OF ABSENCE
I will not have access to the Internet for at least a week and will therefore be unable to open the initiative elections voting booth (the election should take place this weekend). I think the Lt. Governor, as acting governor, has the power to open the voting booth during my absence.

Since I am still acting Governor of the Dirty South, if anyone wants a seat in the newly created Assembly, please PM me.

Objection. The Regional Legislature Amendment had seven ayes and four nays which is a 63.6% approval. The Southeastern Constitution clearly states that any constitutional amendments must be approved by two-thirds of those voting, which is 66.7% (Article IV Section 3). I must demand that you rescind your certification of the amendment's passage, SPC, or this will have to go to court.

I would have to disagree:

It says and I quote:

Therefore in order for any Amendment to pass in the Southeast it has to have support of 2/3 of the voters, not 2/3 percent. Since 11 people voted 2/3 of the voters would be 7.3 or 7 voters, therefore the Amendment does pass.

Two-thirds of 11 would be 7.3, yes, but that means it would need eight votes to pass. Seven is less than two-thirds of the eleven voters.

You can't cut the decimals like that. 7 is smaller than 7.3, sorry.

While I disagree with the Legislature Amendment entirely, my own objections to it are irrelevant at this point. It just didn't pass. Sorry Josh, but the law is quite clear.

Oh well, if this measure did fail we'll just throw it back on the ballot tomorrow with an "emergency" intiative title

Well eventually the people of the Dirty South will democratically vote for a legislature.  The people are opposing it are doing it on the grounds of wanting to quash regional power or as a pure opposition move to the RPP.  This is an emergency to move our region into the new age of Atlasia

Well, that failed last week, I don't see why that would succeed next week.
