Don't worry guys. The GW College Democrats are headed down to Norfolk next weekend to volunteer for Deeds. Just as we did in New Jersey, this race is about to be turned on its head.

You guys are freaking magical.  I wish my College Dems were as awesome.  I'm VP and we have a total of 5 members lol

I'm VP of my college Reps and we had like 5 people last year. Now we are up to a robust 10(even though all 10 never show up).

President of my school's Young Democrats - I was the only one who showed up last week.

I could regularly get around 10-15 people to show up to my Young Democrats meetings in high school, more if we had a particularly interesting speaker or topic for the day. For a 300 person place I think I did a pretty good job.

Yeah, except this time it was expected, and therefore inconsequential.

Bob McDonnell says he'll serve his entire term if elected, discouraging breathless "McDonnell in 2012" commentators:

yeah everyone says that, hell, I think Obama has a good money quote about how he couldn't feasibly even run for president since it would require him to basically begin campaigning in 2004 moments after he arrived in the Senate

I don't think McDonnell has enough name recognition to do a national run anyway.  That would be like that Congressman from California that tried to run for the Republican nomination in 2008.

Of course he'd say that -he isn't even governor yet.  He understands as well as anyone that there is no point in encouraging rumors that he plans on using his office (should he win it, which seems pretty much a fait accompli at this point) as a springboard for his ambitions.  Too premature and it would raise questions about his commitment level.

However, I do fully expect him to run against Senator Jim Webb in 2012, barring a disastrous term.  And I imagine he fully intends to.

Another benefit: It lets you claim some big event Obama did "changed your mind" which makes a nice media narrative.  Like Pearce did when he decided to run against Teague for his old seat back.

Deeds won't win, but that SUSA poll is a piece of shit. In fact, all their polls of this race have been completely worthless. McDonnell's ceiling is 55% of the vote and if he breaks that then I'll quit this forum.

I'd almost do it now, if it meant never having to hear your constant inanity again, but you post over at SSP sometimes for some unknown reason.

After some consideration, I take it back. Well, most of it, anyway. Deeds is just digging himself further and further in. I still think a single-digit win is most likely, but I'm not going to be surprised anymore if McDonnell hits 56-57% on election day. I just feel sorry for Wagner, Shannon, and the House of Delegates candidates who are being dragged down by the Hindenburg that is Deeds' campaign.

I can not possibly comprehend how anyone could vote for both McDonnell and Obama. That makes no sense whatsoever.

Well, I hope he loses too. Hopefully Virginia Dems learn a lesson and next time don't nominate another blue dog idiot just because he got a newspaper endorsement.

To be fair, I fully believe McAuliffe and Moran would have been squashed as well.

It's more like half the people who voted for Obama are staying home this year. As I said somewhere else, 3.7 million people voted in 2008, we'll be lucky to break 2 million this year.

And yes, Moran and McAuliffe wouldn't have done any better. Well, McAuliffe may have been able to buy some more support in Fairfax.

I maintain that McAuliffe would be doing much better right now.
