But, in the meantime, could we maybe go forward with holding votes on the things currently on the floor?

I plan to run for PPT as the anti-DWTL just to let everyone know.  Despite the RPP majority I feel I still have a decent chance at victory.

RPP Senators = 5, even a tie would just go to Meeker

Can we be that certain that Meeker would vote in your favor, though?

What makes you think it will be a tie anyway?

Only if RPP vote the one way. I think DWTL's over eagerness and assuredness of his victory is unsettling. He has not aleviated concerns people have over his ability to do a high profile and important administrative job.

In short I'm finding him quite childish at the moment.

My overconfidence is not childish at all.  I know that people, like yourself, will continue to doubt my abilities.  Therefore, I look forward to nothing more than proving naysayers wrong and actually running a senate that functions well.

What is my point?  I only need five votes to force a tie, and six to assure victory

To expand on what Afleitch said, my anger and overconfidence is directed at the fact that last time people in the senate doubted my abilities and hailed their god, Al.  What happened was the senate went to crap when it wouldn't have under my leadership

Oh I don't doubt your abilities and never accused you of being angry.

I do think you're being a little overconfident...but we'll see soon.

Your memory is really bad for a bairn. I only took that job because no one else (except you) wanted it and I made very clear beforehand that there would be limits on my time. And you were certainly not an active Senator during that period (mind you, most others weren't either. And there'in lay the problem. VP was always asleep as well).

In the event that I need to break a tie then I intend to vote for whomever I feel will best be able to run the Senate without active involvement from myself. I am legitimately undecided and look forward to the debate over the possible nominees.

I am undecided. While I'd prefer that the RPP not control the entire Senate, and I fear that DWDL is trying to turn it into some partisan office, what I most want in the PPT is someone who will get the votes running and all that procedural stuff in a timely and organized manner. That said, I lean towards voting for Happy, though I will be actively listening to what both candidates have to say.

I have no intention of turning the PPT into a partisan office, that is something that was done in the last senate.  The only thing I want to do is keep the senate running and make sure that all the rules are followed.  I promise not to strike any bills as frivolous unless there seems to be a large backlash against the bill from at least 2/3 of the senators.  Perhaps no action was worse than Al striking down my "Free Palestine Bill" with no reasons other than he did not like it.  I intend to be a fair PPT and I also intend to remind senators when votes are coming up and keep an up to date noticeboard.

Another thing to consider, do we want a PPT who really wants the job or a PPT who is running solely to oppose another PPT candidate?

So you're criticising the need for an election involving more than one candidate? Do you want to bypass the democratic process and simply be crowned?

For an office that requires so much activity to keep functioning, someone should really want the job rather than simply run to oppose someone who wants it.

That is not the sole reason I am running.  It is a reason but also because I feel the Senate deserves an active PPT and I have never missed a single vote in my time within the Senate that I am aware of.

I wish our SOFA would certify Jedi's and my election so that we could hold a PPT vote.
