I don't think we can until the votes for Franzl and Jedi are certified.

As dean of the senate, I will assuming the responsibilties of PPT for the time being so that we can actually do something.  For the time being that would be open a hearing for Marokai as AG.

I am still trying to read to determine the constitutionality of the issue as it says the VP must be inactive for five days, but does not specify if this means senate action or overall action.

I would kind of like to...you know....be a sitting senator before we start with hearings and debate. I'd guess that Jedi feels the same way.

Not to mention it's kind of hard to hold a hearing for AG when the old one is still in office...Wink

I guess I could take part in the debate and ask my questions before my election is certified...would you mind if I did that even without being Senator yet? In that case I would gladly resign the AG job now to get the process started.

I certainly wouldn't mind having the hearing, official or unofficial. We need to keep the process moving and it seems to constantly get bogged down.

The Senate has seriously been completely inactive for over a month now. I'd like to get on with proceedings, even if they're completely unofficial.

While I agree that inactivity is cause for concern (I also note that many delagates have not been elected or seated for the ConCon for example), rules are unfortunately rules. I cannot see how the Senate can do anything other than what is merely procedural at this time. Elections need to be certified. Unfortunately given the delays in last weeks races and the races the week before that, the SOFA's position is in danger of becoming untenable.

I don't want to insult Earl, but bgwah should replace him by somebody else.

Once Franzl takes the oath we can begin. Any attempts by Down to govern the Senate would be clearly out of order.

Among other things, the Dean only assumes the duties of the PPT on the absence of both the PPT and the President of the Senate (Vice President).

Meeker, now that all of our new members are sworn in would you like to open up a thread for the election of a new PPT so we can get things underway?

I believe we technically have to have Earl "appoint" TCash (with my consent) first... I'm still talking to Earl about the SoFA situation, though...

A PPT must be elected in first.

Not actually true. The President opens threads for appointment confirmations, and the Vice President can preside as long as there is no PPT (or even if there is; the relationship between President of the Senate and PPT is quite open to personal interpretation).
