BRTD did the same thing in 2006, with the following results (50 votes)

Conservative 34%
NDP 24%
Liberal 20%
Greens 8%
Bloc 4%
Libertarian 4%
Marijuana 4%
Christian Heritage 2%

Same thing, with as many thingees as I can think of.

No need to describe the five biggies that most know about (if it's not the case, try Wikipedia)

Here are the minor thingees.

Christian Heritage: Crazy far-right religious fundamentalists.
Canadian Action: Kind of like Pat Buchanan. Anti-globalization/free trade, nationalists, and now has a 9/11 conspiracy theorist swing to it.
Marijuana: Single-issue marijuana legalization party. Only running a handful of candidates, IIRC (less than 10, methinks)
Progressive Canadians: Ex-PCs mad at the Alliance-PC merger. Only 10 candidates, since a lot of the party figures (including the ex-leader) joined the Liberals, and the ex-leader is the Liberal candidate in Cumberland-Colchester-M. Valley (NS).
Communist: The more "moderate" of the two Commies.
CPC (M-L): Stalinists, pro-North Korea. They also quite like Enver Hoxha.
Neorhino: Official joke party. Refoundation of the Rhino Party from the 80s, but I find them less funny than the original.
Libertarian: US-style Libertarian Party, IIRC. Don't know much 'bout them.

1) NDP
2) Greens
3) Liberals

Depends on the riding I lived in, but that's my general order of preference.

I'm using an absentee ballot in the riding with Gary Lunn. The NDP candidate was fired after it was revealed he was skinny dipping with kids 12 years ago. Naturally I'm voting Liberal.

So who else should I vote for? Gary Lunn would rather risk a nuclear disaster than admit a political blunder. I was unimpressed with the Green candidate last time he ran in 2004, and there are four fringe parties to choose from.

Besides, the Liberal candidate was Green until last year.

So what's my natural reaction here?

I would be voting Conservative in the poll.

As for Cold Cuts... the NDP should have announced whether they support the Greens or the Liberals in the riding so their voters would know where they should place their preferences. My thoughts on Gary Lunn have been previously documented in another thread.

Interestingly, Julian West was also a Greenie. Anyways, I'm just messin' with you.

Personally, I would either vote for the Canadian Action Party or just vote NDP anyways. After all, I kinda know Mr. West through facebook.

Whichever party had the better shot at defeating the Conservatives in my riding.

I'd most like the NDP to form a government though.

How is a party supposed to start to do well in a riding when people vote strategically? Kind of a catch 22 situation. People don't want to vote for a party that can't win, yet that party can't win without their votes. I suppose it's easier for me, since I hate all the other parties. Wink

My thing is that I'm not so much pro-NDP as anti-Harper... although I do like the NDP.

I don't really dislike Harper all that much either.

I wish I had your candidates to choose between. I actually like them all Sad

I'd like a pet unicorn - and I have a better chance of getting one than the NDP forming the federal government in Canada.

Conservatives.

For fun, after 19 votes cast- the make up of the House of Commons with this vote:

NDP 165
Green 72
Conservative 71
Liberal 0

I'll do this every now and then.

undecided between Conservative and Liberal

Believe me, you're certainly not a Harper Conservative voter. Definitely not. PC maybe in the good old days. But not 2008 Conservative. You're either Greenie or Liberal.

The Canadian Conservative Party is the most moderate/progressive Conservative Party in the world.
