You can put the "inclusion" myth to bed with this speech.

They say the speech is long and that he uses the word "I" a lot.

How much does Rush pay you?

Actually, I owe Oberman for that one. Wink

blah blah it's Bush's fault that people overseas are better at doing my job than me.

It's Bush's fault that they can pay people at below living wages and pollute as much as they want and still bring their product into our country for nothing.

Haha, exactly.  More tariffs!  That's what economists think is the right thing to do.  And if those smartie pants with their PhD's (ALL OF THEM) disagree, then let's ask uneducated people working in dying industries about foundational economic matters!

Jobs aren't going to China and Mexico because they pay people below living wage, the vast majority of their workers are living.  Jobs are going because of comparative advantage and the fact that it is cheaper for Chinese people to build things relative to everything else they could do.  In America, it's cheapest for us to make chemicals, airplanes, and IT services and trade for things made in a "plant."

Here's a newsflash.  If you work in anyplace called a "plant" you do not have job security.  Go to a local community college and begin the process of retraining yourself for a modern economy.

That's my rant.
Smiley
Uhhhhh sure they're living but not by any American standard of the word and I don't think anyone here wants that. Hell my Mexican family is all made of white collar workers and they still have much less of living standard than us and my Dad is a carpenter.

The current trend is that "global warming" isn't completely accurate and overly simplistic.  For example, some areas might actually get colder from a higher global temperature.  Climate change covers everything.  There's nothing wrong with the phrase global warming, but climate change is more broad and accurate.

Eh I basically agree with you but I think we can use our position in the global economy to force countries like China to follow some goddamn environmental laws. Of course Bush took that moral authority away from us when he didn't sign Kyoto. Also the government could help people retrain for jobs that are needed today or could create new jobs in energy which could not be produced more cheaply in another nation. Has Bush done anything to prepare this country for the new economy? HELL NO!!!

Yea, global warming has been "out" for a year or two now. It's not as good a descriptor of the situation as climate crisis.

Although Gore did mention global warming at least once.

I just want to note...

On the CNN special from a few days ago, Barack mentioned waking up every morning for his English lessons. Tonight, he mentioned waking up every morning for his lessons.

Smart move, politically speaking.

Even if he did, the network would give a  this is more important than McCain's VP pick for historical purposes.

Very true; the real story is compelling enough, but he won't use it.

As I said earlier, I love the design of the facade on stage, very neo-classical, nazi-esque.  All the people cheering exact same thing, and columns and stadium atmosphere really take me back to Nuremberg in 1936.
