Another chartered flight to Delaware has been added, I think.

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N96DK

Not sure if I really understand what this means though, but Ambinder just posted it on Twitter.

Biden must live in the boondocks of his state.

And he is supposed to be coming from his house? I must be missing something.

Exactly... unless Obama announces in an hour, this is a huge bust.

Even if he does, if its Biden, its still mega anti-climax. That is painfully obvious even now, let alone 12 hours ago.

The Obama campaign has chosen one of the worst possible methods for choosing a VP candidate and Obama, possibly, has chosen the worst of the top tier candidates.

While it is the 23rd in France, it's still the 22nd in the US.

I can't quite work out whether this delay is a stroke of genius or an awful, hubris-born error.

You guys are great!  No, seriously.  The only reason I'm even watching this on the Atlas is because I've been waiting for a chance to do laundry since noon.  I'm having trouble getting excited, and look how many freaking posts I have.

"Awful...error."  "Obama blew it."  How many permanent polling points did he just miss out on?  Five?  Ten?  Has his campaign died because he misses one day of non-questioning coverage?  No, sorry--because of a 24-hour delay, and potential slight smothering in the folds of the news cycle.

Meanwhile, America is mostly trying to decide between Burger King and McDonald's, and ready to set in for a weekend of pretending they already knew who Joe Biden/Evan Bayh/whoever was.  Is it a screw-up relative to what could have been?  Maybe.  And I guess in that sense he "blew it," but let's not seriously pretend we'll be thinking about this in a month.

That said, I'm 70% sure it's Biden.

I'm not quite making the argument that you think I am. It's not that I think that many people will be angry (or waiting in raptured anticipation; my point was double-edged). Both candidates are where they are today because of media hype and goodwill (it's not a coincidence that both fit nicely into feelgood storylines (or "lies", if you like things blunter) about defeating the legacy of official racism and Vietnam that the American media so obviously wants to peddle. I cite as proof the fact that McCain still has a career post-Keating and that Obama's balloon wasn't burst by associations with the Daley machine and that dodgy Rezko fellow; things that would have destroyed a candidate running on Hope And Change platform without the goodwill of the media, regardless of how far or not any insinuations relating to those associations might be...). That's all.

Still though, the fact that there hasn't been some huge break is incredible.

Even in 2004, we had the reports of Edwards cutting his Disney World vacation short to meet with Kerry a few days earlier.

What's up with your hate of Biden? As long as he doesn't make a gaffe till November, he is an excellent choice who helps Obama with older democrats.
