Lingle brings so much to an Obama ticket.  Without her, can he hold onto Hawai'i?

Yeah by Walter but that doesn't count.

come again?

and i never speculated that obama would pick lingle.  i asked about her chances with mccain.  phil and other righties said she was 1. jewish and 2., gay, therefore unacceptable to their wing of the party.

I'm just teasing Wink.  I thought you said Obama/Lingle but no worries.

ABC news
Chet Edwards says that he too is looking forward to the text message!
Speaking to reporters on his front lawn in Waco, Edwards said, “I’m unknown to most Americans, I’m probably better known at my son’s little league ball games and Boy Scout camp outs than in the social circles in Washington, DC.  I try to be a work horse, not a show horse in Washington.”

Edwards gave no details on his contact with the Obama campaign, saying, “There’s only one person who’s gonna make that decision and that’s Sen. Obama and I’m going to respect that.”

He said he too has signed up for the Obama campaign’s vice presidential text message announcement and does not yet know when he is going to Denver.

Asked what he would bring to a national campaign, the Congressman cited his work for veterans and military families.  Edwards is the chairman of the House Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations subcommittee.

Sorry Walter, I couldn't remember who posted that and what the context was, but it seemed to fit the Hawaii speculation that people have been chatting about the past few minutes.

That having been said, it would seem that this would be a poor choice for McCain, although this is best discussed on another thread.

Biden has received flowers today, think they are from Obama?

Hillary has delegates that are going to be circulating a petition to make Obama choose Hillary as the VP nominee.  She is talking on the phone with FOX right now.

Of course it is. Dragged it out as long as possible...big speech not at convention but that Invesco Field...he thinks he is the all mighty. He's losing states Hillary could have been competitive in by 30 pts! He isn't all that mighty...and next week is the last time we get to see "teleprompter Obama".

I'm glad to see you were just listening to Hannity because those were all of his talking points.

No, they could wait until tomorrow.  The Obama campaign has reserved a location in Springfield for an Obama appearance tomorrow at noon, where he's thought to be making his first appearance with his running mate (though, has the Obama campaign confirmed that on the record?).  Presumably, as soon as one of the VP contenders gets on a plane for Springfield, the secret would be out.....but I suppose they could conceivably wait until tomorrow morning for that to happen.

If he's announcing today, I can't imagine him not announcing it in the next hour, before the evening news starts.  Although...are the evening news shows live on the East Coast, or not?  If they're recorded, then it's too late anyway...

I'm pretty sure they're live.

With all this wait he's pretty much killed any buzz or bump his campaign would get normally.

All we really know with absolute certainty:

The Obama campaign has confirmed on the record that they have an event in Springfield tomorrow.  At least one "senior Obama campaign official" has informed various news organizations that Obama will appear with his running mate at that event.  But, AFAIK, the Obama campaign hasn't even gone on the record publicly with *that*.  (But of course, there's no reason to lie about what the event in Springfield is going to be about.)
