Seeing as Trump seek non consecutive term, is the term an "Election or a Re-election."

Are there press records surviving from Grover Cleveland era, was his second term called an elect or a reelect'??

For me re-election implies consecutive, so he’s just running for election. You could say he’s running for another term though for me that doesn’t imply consecutive in the same way

It is often useful to consider more extreme cases.  Jerry Brown was elected governor of California in 2010 after previously serving from 1975-1983.  Would anyone say that Brown was re-elected in 2010?  That seems absurd.

It's not re-election unless he is the incumbent, as I see it.

I feel like we should come up for a word or phrase for when a candidate runs for an office they previously lost.

Looking back through history, was Grover Cleveland seen at the time as running to be elected or re-elected President in 1892?

If that's the case, than he wins in a landslide. i feel consensus is that 2020s have been horrible so far and that a lot of people want to go back to pre-covid times.

Like there hasn't been a normal period so far... We've had the pandemic, and right when the pandemic was slowing down, Ukraine started, now Gaza. It just doesn't stop.

The 2020s can go to hell and everyone responsible for it should be lit on fire.

And ig i'm not the only one who thinks this way. 2019 nostalgia is a winning strategy.
