Dave, do you really want another National Government?

I want a consensus-building pragmatic type of governance but many just seem to be in a state of denial as to the causation of the 'Crash of 2008'

Labour appears to be waging the most inept national campaign since 1983 and we gonna get killed

The prime ministerial debates has trivialised it all down to a beauty contest Roll Eyes and Brown just ain't ever gonna win one of those. Labour needs a young, dynamic (and no disrespect to those north of the border or west of the marches), preferably, English leader

To be fair, a coalition government wouldn't be so bad an idea at the moment.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2010/apr/30/car-crash-labour-10-cabinet-ministers

"The prime minister's attempt to re-energise his campaign descended into chaos today when a poster launch event was interrupted by a car crash.

Ten cabinet ministers were lined up in front of the posters in Hockley, Birmingham, and Lord Mandelson was speaking when a Volkswagen golf smashed into a bus shelter just yards away.

The accident also involved a group of refuse collectors in a dustbin lorry, who were jeering out of their window.

The screeching noise and sound of the collision immediately diverted attention from the poster rally, as police, journalists and political aides ran to the scene of the accident."

There should be a law banning the combination of metanarrative and journalism.

The posters themselves are woeful 'think of the children' type appeals. Having said that the old fashioned 'poster unveiling' has been missing this year. The tax credit one is interesting. If they were truthful they would say 'Mummy please vote Labour so that my pony lessons can continue as those awful Tories want to cut child tax credits due to your lowly £50,000 a year wage"

A government that's been in power for 13 years faced with a recession in very recent memory was never going to stand a chance, to be honest.

The best we can hope for is a hung parliament.

I wonder what the result would have been in 1997 if the economy had been bad....

I know I'm like a day or two late in finding this, and some of you have probably seen it...but the dailyshow's take on the bigotgate...priceless.

Consider their longstanding support for Labour it's a bit unexpected. Barring the Mirror, the FT backed Labour for 4 elections in a row; not sure if they've decided who to back yet.

Consider their longstanding support for Labour it's a bit unexpected.

It's not unexpected for people who read it on a (fairly) regular basis and isn't as though they don't have form when it comes to backing the LibDems and ancestors (as did the pre-Murdoch Times, of course). The only surprise (to me) was how hostile the endorsement was to the Tories; a lot of surprisingly pro-Cameron content has been published in the Grauniad over the past few years.

But, yeah. Labour doesn't have many friends in Theoretical Fleet Street at the moment.

The Times will come out tomorrow for the Tories (which was expected) It backed Labour in 2001 and 2005.

Given that it's been nicer to Cameron than the usual stalwarts, remembering it's 2005 endorsement is always a strange experience.

Is The Independant backing the Liberals as well or haven't they announced who they're backing?

John Marek (the former AM and MP for Wrexham who left Labour, set up 'Forward Wales' and joined the Tories this year) has apparently been displaying a big LibDem banner on a building that he owns.
