Cheapest I've seen, as of yesterday, on this side of the river was 3.83...I'm sure its at least 10 cents cheaper than that in the Jerz.

Bingo. I didn't see $3.83 though. It's $3.85 at the nearest Wawa. Odd that you've seen it cheaper than I have since it's usually more expensive in your area of town.

The Liberty gas stations in Lower Bucks tend to be pretty cheap...

I always thought Philly was higher...now if you get into the Bucks County Boroughs and past newtown, yeah, far more expensive.

I think I know which Liberty you're talking about. The one in Andalusia, right? I don't go to that one even though that is closer to my house than the Wawa I posted about.

There is one independent gas station on State Road just outside of Philly that always has gas at least twenty-thirty cents more expensive than anywhere else. I have no idea how they survive.

Perhaps but thats not the liberty i'm talking about...I won't mention much more since I, like the VP, like my location to remain semi-secret.

I wonder why they're able to outprice most of the regional stations...they're not like wawa who can afford to take a loss on the gas to get customers to come in and buy their very delicious...yum...drool...sandwiches.

The oil companies win again when we call $3.80 'cheap'.

America wins when we look at Europe and they're basically paying $9 a gallon.  Tongue

Yes, look at the huge crises they're in now with oil.... oh wait....

As I've always understood it, perhaps someone can crush me with actual facts, the oil companies, for years now (like decades almost) generally make the same profit per gallon and make their profit through lots of gallons being sold rather than taking a larger share per gallon.  World wide demand is up, and I'm sure though short term US demand is down, its probably far higher than it was at the beginning of the decade.

I really don't know what that's supposed to mean. These people drive much more reliable cars and Italians apparently have the most cars per person in the world yet they're still paying that much. If that's not a crisis, what is?

The $9 a gallon gas inevitably changes the mindset of the driver. They drive much smaller, more fuel-efficient cars and drive less. If you look at the numerous statistics, America consumes the most gas per capita and our economy is much more based on fuel-driven semi's.

Take a look at Italy and Europe in general. I'd say 95% of these people drive a car smaller than my already small Honda Accord. They're much more fuel efficient. However, like I said, Italians have the highest amount of cars per person in the world or they're at least high up there. They drive fuel efficient cars. The price is still $9 a gallon. It ought to be much cheaper, wouldn't you say?

Italy seems to have ridiculously high taxes on things for the services that they provide.  they're like the California of Europe.

In Germany and Austria for the most part, gas was expensive (though still not $9/gallon).. but you didn't need a car to live there.  Between buses, subways, streetcars, and train travel, there wasn't a need.

So if you can do 75% of your errands without a car... $9/gallon doesn't seem nearly as bad.  Especially if it means your country won't collapse when a barrel of oil triples in price over a short period of time.

Well, then we need to study how often those cars are used. I'm thinking that a country with the most cars per person must use those vehicles quite often.

It's 1.261 per litre here.

That's 4.66 in USD per gallon.

Both Gas and Diesel here are down from 8.50$ to slightly more than 7.40$/gallon.

I frequently go out to Daly City or South San Francisco to buy gas. Prices are virtually the same there.

$3.49/gallon.  I can safely say I have yet to pay $4.00/gallon for gas.  The most it was here was $3.999/gallon

Yup. Northern San Mateo County's the same way. I wonder why.

There's a Lukoil station on my bus route that I see out the window every day that's currently trying to sell gas at $4.45/gal. I have no idea how this gas station survives; gas is around $3.80/gal at most local stations, and it's not as if Leonia has no other gas station (let alone the neighboring towns).

Yea I saw one of those driving through Belleville (your probably familiar with the town).  I said that was ridiculous, and my friend that the only ridiculous thing was that some moron was filling up there Tongue

Same here except it actually did hit $4.099 briefly in Minneapolis but I didn't buy any then. It's now $3.55. Minneapolis is for once actually cheaper than the suburbs which are around $3.69. Makes me happy. Smiley

Probably a conspiracy to prevent San Franciscans from actually getting gas at a reasonable price. Tongue

     I'm jealous. Angry

It's shocking though how quickly prices surged though. It feels like yesterday when I was laughing at my mother for thinking that it would surpass $3.00/gallon anytime soon. Sad
