Still at $2.97 at the local station as it has been for weeks. Briefly bumped up to $2.99 a week ago, but it's back down.

I just spent nearly 160 dollars to drive from Florida to Virginia! Yikes! Oh well, I was expecting it. The average price in each state from Florida to Virginia was about 2.95$.

2.95? 2.97?

You guys are lucky...PA's into the low 3s, NY, even central NY, is much higher than that.

At least my japanese car gets good mileage.

We're down to $2.72 now.  Still 75 cents higher than at the beginning of the year, but 30 cents cheaper than May.

Now at $2.89. I guess NJ's prices are slow to rise but also slow to fall.

There has been a mineral oil tax increase on July 1 here in Austria. The price for regular gas is up 3 cents the liter, for diesel its up 5 cents the liter. New average prices are:

Regular gas: 6.5$ the gallon

Diesel: 5.5$ the gallon

But I have cheaper gas stations around, so I buy the Diesel for about 5.2$ the gallon right now.

This week has been a strange one so far.  On Sunday, the gas prices were $2.62.  Monday, they were $2.79.  Tuesday, $2.73.  I'll have to check on the way home tonight to see what they are today.

Gas has increased in price here lately.  We were down to $2.80 for a while, before it hit $2.89, then $2.99 10 days ago, $3.09 5 days ago, and now it was up to $3.19 today.

I am praying daily that we don't have another Katrina this year.  (Of course, that's an exaggerating.  But I am fervently hoping we don't have another Katrina).

Gas is up substantially this week. It's now ranging from $3.20 to $3.30, up from under $3 last week. Press reports attribute the rise to the continuing problems at the Whiting, IN refinery, plus the KS flood shutting down capacity there.

Recent pricing shows that the demand is largely inelastic, so supply sets the price. As Katrina showed, the retail market is very sensitive to production capacity.
