Canadian healthcare.

Fine, Meloni. (I guess I supported Bolsonaro over Lula too, and it's not like he's very good either). But an absolutely horrible matchup here.

This is like comparing a glorious Norwegian salmon dinner to a plate of moldy cheese.

Obviously Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

His proclivity to say stupid and misinformed things about global topics on which he has marginal influence does not majorly influence my opinion of him, especially in a comparison to a post-fascist MSI nostalgic.

Why do you think you have the authority whatever he says is stupid and misinformed.

Do you really think you know things better than a Brazilian president?

Lula of course. Meloni triggering Vosem mad is amusing, but it better stop before she fights the next election touting a flat tax but he endorses the PD anyway or some other thing that will give me a stroke.

Cuz western liberals are always superior in their minds and whenever something they don’t agree is voiced then it must be stupidity or lack of knowledge of whoever isn’t aligned with them.

Even if it’s from a politician way more successful than the people they generally vote for.

I hate to say it, but you're right here.

Though you're not always right. I mean no-one is, that's the whole point.

And i'd rather be president of Brazil than governor of Vermont.

Lmao, Red Velvet saying that other people think they are superior in their minds and that anything they disagree with must be stupid is one of the least self-aware posts in the history of the forum.

Look, I don't think I can be accused of being half-hearted or ambivalent in my support for Ukraine, but the idea that that alone should lead me to pick a neofascist over someone who's been fighting side by side with workers all his life... give me a f**king break. If Lula was a European leader I might feel differently, especially if he sabotaged the EU's pro-Ukraine agenda like Orban, but of course that's not the case.

Ok a similar question then.

Right now I probably wouldn't vote for either of them if they were the only options to lead some kind of unified French-Italian state, I guess. In more normal times, obviously Mélenchon, but who knows when that might be at this point.

Lula of course. Meloni triggering Vosem mad is amusing, but it better stop before she fights the next election touting a flat tax but he endorses the PD anyway or some other thing that will give me a stroke.

M5S has pretty unusually me-compatible aesthetics for a European center-left party, if not policies; obviously I wouldn't support PD. (I think in 2013* I ultimately broke for 'protest vote for M5S' in the end -- don't really remember -- but I remember Di Maio eventually came out as anti-NATO and the party moved toward more of a center-left stance rather than 'inchoate anger' I vaguely backed the Italian right in 2018/2022. I think I could vote M5S -- or for some hyper-minor party -- rather than voting PD, which is just not necessary in a multi-party system.)

*This might be me back-projecting; I think in hindsight 2013 was an election the Italian right deserved to lose but I remember conversations from 2014-15 where I tried to list elections at which I would not have supported the right and not citing that one. I might have very, very, very tepidly still backed Berlusconi in the real world.
