Israeli strike kills at least 33 people at a Gaza school the military claims was being used by Hamas

Quote
DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — An Israeli strike early Thursday on a school sheltering displaced Palestinians in central Gaza killed more than 30 people, including 23 women and children, according to local health officials. The Israeli military said that Hamas militants were operating from within the school.

It was the latest instance of mass casualties among Palestinians trying to find refuge as Israel expands its offensive. A day earlier, the military announced a new ground and air assault in central Gaza, pursuing Hamas militants it says have regrouped there. Troops repeatedly have swept back into parts of the Gaza Strip they have previously invaded, underscoring the resilience of the militant group despite Israel’s nearly eight-month onslaught.

Witnesses and hospital officials said the predawn strike hit the al-Sardi School, run by the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees known by the acronym UNRWA. The school was filled with Palestinians who had fled Israeli operations and bombardment in northern Gaza, they said.

Ayman Rashed, a man displaced from Gaza City who was sheltering at the school, said the missiles hit classrooms on the second and third floor where families were sheltering. He said he helped carry out five dead, including an old man and two children, one with his head shattered open. “It was dark, with no electricity, and we struggled to get out the victims,” Rashed said.

Hamas is providing those figures; Israel has claimed no civilians were killed and the only casualties were somewhere between 20 and 40 of the Hamas militants operating out of there.  One of these sources is credible and it’s not Hamas.

Yeah, no kidding. The IDF doesn't just make mistakes, they actively lie and cover up their crimes. They lied about the 2014 bombing of kids playing on a beach, they lied about Shireen Abu Akleh, they even lie when they have nothing to gain like when they tried to claim that a calendar was a list of hostages. No honest person could seriously take anything the IDF claims at face value when they lie so reflexively.

Also, it's pretty telling that doctors, women, children and civilian refugees are all categorized as "Hamas". Of course if you call everyone in Gaza "Hamas" then there are no civilian casualties but that says a lot more about the IDF than it does about Hamas.

After the smoke settles, the statistics nearly always lined up with Israel's version of events.

The IDF was on thin ice before 10/7. They really don't have a whole lot more credibility than Hamas now.

No, it's from interviews that the New York Times conducted, but you are so eager to dismiss Israel's war crimes that you didn't bother to read the NYTimes article.

And the article is citing a leaked UNRWA report, meaning it’s functionally no different than Hamas propaganda

Wow, another person so rush to eager to dismiss Israel's war crimes that he didn't even bother to read the NYTimes article.

Not that anyone is surprised.

UNRWA was barely mentioned and even if the UNRWA report is completely omitted, it doesn't change anything since the NYTimes did its own interviews.

Never mind that Israel's years long attempt to smear the UNRWA has come to nothing.

My experience with Jewish people is that they are the nicest, most intelligent people on the planet. I have never had a bad experience in business with Jewish folk. In fact, I owe my business success to the trust and friendship of Jewish people.

Thanks to a career in Geology, have met a lot of people from 6 different continents, and one thing is for certain, I was impressed by their long term qualities of resourcefulness, intelligence, mercantile and friendship.

It comes as no surprise they are very successful.

Placing them next to an Islamic death cult in Hamas? Well, that is another issue.

UNRWA at least succeeds mostly at its job. God bless them, many more Gazans would have died of starvation if not for them.
Meanwhile the Israeli govt's heavy-handedness and neglect for the needs of Palestinians makes it the number one recruiter for Hamas there is.

Lebanon and Israel war possibility.

https://theconversation.com/lebanons-hezbollah-is-proving-to-be-a-serious-problem-for-israel-229948

"Hezbollah intensified its attacks in northern Israel on June 2, firing barrages of rockets over the border that set off massive wildfires. This came two days after the Lebanese armed group revealed that it had downed one of Israel’s most advanced drones – the most recent of several successful air defence operations."

I cannot imagine Lebanon wanting to get involved.

It's Israel that is the problem.

Israel's culture of impunity corrupts people.

If one becomes part of the rotten system (and Israel is rotten to the core), then one become rotten himself.

This almost made me throw up. JFC.

It’s from an UNWRA report. Sorry if I believe they might tell a lie or 10.

Because, famously, the Israelis have never lied before, right?

They're totally paragons of truth and honesty, right?

My experience with Jewish people is that they are the nicest, most intelligent people on the planet. I have never had a bad experience in business with Jewish folk. In fact, I owe my business success to the trust and friendship of Jewish people.

Thanks to a career in Geology, have met a lot of people from 6 different continents, and one thing is for certain, I was impressed by their long term qualities of resourcefulness, intelligence, mercantile and friendship.

It comes as no surprise they are very successful.

Placing them next to an Islamic death cult in Hamas? Well, that is another issue.

I don't view people I do business with through an ethnicity lens. Maybe you do. What are your experiences in business with Arab folk? I had a local Saudi gentleman that acted as my notary when I ran for office a couple years ago. Nice guy, had a nice conversation, and he runs a solid business in town. That does not mean I endorse the actions of Mohamed bin Salman. In fact, it's a logical fallacy on your part to act like Jews = Israel and Israel = Jews. There are Jews that are not Israelis and there are Israelis that are not Jews. The actions of the Government of Israel are not representative of Jews worldwide.

More discussion on the NAACP telling Biden to stop arming Israel than the 40 casualities from the UNRWA school. A school that Israel says is "housing" Hamas but no evidence has come out from that conclusion. It was sickening to see another institution being attacked again by Israel, as well the human lives that have been taken away.

Permanent ceasefire NOW!

UNWRA works for its interest: its funding and survival. In Gaza, it is run by locals and has to obey.
Zionists say that they get food donations, let them be stealed by Hamas and later Hamas sells the food. Up to a point it seems to be true. Maybe the UN gets some of that money...
Still, I think that the UN's (all agencies included) relative support of Palestinea is caused by its Third World majority, not because of a conspiracy.

https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/07/politics/cia-netanyahu-assessment/index.html

Quote
A CIA assessment circulated among US officials this week concluded that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu likely judges he can get away without defining a post-war plan — even as the Biden administration has launched a full-court press to pressure him to bring an end to the conflict in Gaza.

Netanyahu “probably believes he can maintain support from his security chiefs and prevent defections” from the right wing of his coalition by discussing the future of Gaza in “vague terms,” the June 3 report, reviewed by CNN, reads.

The assessment — which has not been previously reported — represents one of the most up to date intelligence assessments about Netanyahu’s mindset that has been circulated among senior US officials, according to a source familiar with internal reporting.

It comes amid a clear shift in how the Biden administration views Israel: less as a trusted partner and more as an unpredictable foreign government to be analyzed and understood.

It's about time Bibi is seen as the bad actor he is and not a constructive part of the future of peace in the region.

Send him to the Hague.

Can we get these CIA assessments done on American political officials' actions?

Anyway, it's clear from that text the Biden administration made the decision to leak the report to CNN as opposed to some rogue government official doing it.
