Energy prices will surge on Monday.

In the meantime, Biden already ran down the USA strategic oil reserve

Although Biden selling off the oil reserve for election time* was bad it is important to note this graph shows from .75 to .5 and it is not bottomed off at 0.

*There might have been a case to sell some off but Democrats refused to refill it when it was almost free in March of 2020 because it would have been a subsidy to the oil industryu.

Lapid calls for a grand coalition and wartime cabinet.

Ideally the fascist madmen in RZ would be immediately booted from all positions of authority and a grand coalition could be formed, but I am more pessimistic, it is more likely that they stay in government and benefit from this horror-show.

oh no, violent region with history of ethnic conflict sees atrocities on both sides...shocking news

edit: and cue the media's complete buy-in on whatever line the IDF spins for them instead of, you know, conducting actual reporting to see wtf is going on

These are obviously morally depraved and not part of some noble Palestinian resistance. But there is a broader point what's the end game for Israel-Palestine that doesn't end with military occupation/segregation/ethnic cleansing.
The disputed territory of the Holy Lands is too small for 2 states, but they can't kill millions to make an ethnically pure land either, too Nazi for the civilized world.

They should try a federation of Israel and Palestine, afterall that was the proposed UN solution for Cyprus for turks and greeks that have been fighting on and off for 200 years.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-state_solution

There is no way a one state solution works unless there's a dictatorship.

I think we are going to see military occupation which inadvertently/inevitably leads to a mass ethnic cleansing. The Netanyahu government won't accept less after these depraved attacks.
It can work perfectly if it's a constitutional and democratic federation however loose.

It would guarantee that the Palestinians would be ruled by their own democratically elected government that would not be able to become a dictatorship or take arms agaist the jews.

And it would guarantee that the jews won't be able to exterminate the muslims if they are also citizens with full rights.

Basically a tiny version of America, if you substitute the racial divide for the religious divide.

I agree that the chart is deceptive but it does show that current levels of reserves are down to where it was in the 1980s in a world where the USA's consumption of oil is a good deal higher than it was in the 1980s.

Sorry, just felt the need to respond to this.

Neither Israel nor Gaza are oil producing nations. Unless you have news about an incoming attack involving Israel attacking Iran, I don't think Oil Prices will increase all that much.

The breakdown of Israeli and Saudi relations is likely, but I doubt the ongoing diplomatic negotiations were being priced in.

"For Oil, It’s Not 1973 Again – But It Could Still Turn Ugly"

There will be a short-term geopolitical risk surge since there is a chance Iran will be dragged into it.  I do agree that if Iran does not get dragged into it then the energy prices surge will subside but that will be some time from now until the energy markets are clear about that.

Today's events once again prove that there is a contingent of people whose politics boil down to a scatological worship of death and killing. There must always be people who can have the basic moral fortitude and cool head to condemn the murder of civilians, wherever it happens.

Roger Waters called Hamas "the democratically elected government of Gaza," showed up on Hamas TV and spewed a bunch of antisemitic ravings about Sheldon Adelson being the "puppet master" of the US government, etc.

Still can't believe this guy is part of the reason I became so anti-Nazi...

From the BBC ticker:

Israeli forces have now arrived in ALL towns in Southern Israel and are fighting terrorists in 22 locations. They are hiding in houses (often with hostages).

But it seems they have stopped the larger-scale invasion of the terrorists for now, so they cannot move to any other towns to cause harm there.

Israeli naval forces have also killed hundreds of terrorists in the waters off Gaza, who tried to attack Israeli towns by sea.

So that means everyone from the Gaza have to be ethnically cleansed.

And you're all going to support that?

And whoever speaks out against it will be called by 80% of the forum to be banned both here and in User Complaints Thread?

If Israel wanted to actually destroy Hamas they could have done it decades ago. They intentionally propped up Hamas against more moderate and secular Palestinian forces and now they're reaping the whirlwind.

Horrific. A fitting response is required. The terrorist snake's nest needs to go. Stay safe, Hnv1 and Parrotguy.
It's very sad that this is what "land for peace" has come to.

I wish Israel and the IDF all the best in beating back these terrorist scum.

My prayers are with Eretz Yisrael and with Parrotguy, Hnv, and any other Israelis who may be reading this at this horrific time.
