No change. Repblicans have shut down the government enough times these past decades that even people who dont follow politics know its their fault.

We are nearing the point where I’m not sure it could actually drop much lower, given our current polarization and the fact that a lot of the country just likes the fact that he isn’t Trump. The only way it realistically could is if we had a Bush 08 confluence of negative events sometime next year, like a severe recession and Russia overtaking Ukraine. Other than that I think it’s probably going to stay where it is.

I would imagine anyone informed enough to know that the government is shut down, but not informed enough to know that Biden has nothing to do with it, already disapproves of him. No change.

I don't know if it necessarily increases but if the media is honest enough about who is really at fault and Democrats hammer thst message in the coming days and weeks, the GOP overall could look worse, which is almost the same as Biden looking better since they're the alternative to him.

It may not help him but congressional shenanigans haven't successfully hurt a president's approval rating in recent memory.

It doesn't no Ukraine funds and no raise only on rich people that blk celebrities want a raise but Grover Norquist doesn't.

We are gonna get our SSDI checks it has no effect on it

McCarthy is gonna go to Ds eventually and not be ousted as leader Gaetz was the vote to give McCarthy Speaker the vote would be 215/212 McCarthy still

It will only last the most 30 days and they will make some sort of adjustments on Ukraine aid after the CR is passed

We already spent 10 T on 3 Wars, Iraq, Afghanistan and Ukraine, the Rs are being silly

McCarthy can't beat ousted as Speaker it's 215/212 vote anyways.

It would only be a 30 day shutdown, not affecting Social security, the Debt Ceiling mattered they settled the Debt Ceiling because they would of had to pay retro pay or back pay to SSDI recepients

A government shutdown adds to a number of factors that will weigh on the economy this fall: the UAW strikes, student debt becoming real again, energy prices remaining higher, and all of this in a time of harsh interest rates (by this century's standard).

There's an expert consensus that while none of these will be enough to damage economic growth all that much in their own, their cumulative effect could be a lot more noticeable, especially given the large downside risk involved with some.

My guess is that the same applies to Biden's approval rating. A shutdown long enough to hurt the economy and attract real notice isn't going to help anyone. On the other hand, it might be difficult to attribute blame to the shutdown in particular if lots of things are going wrong in a big way.

As usual, everything bad Republicans do will drag Biden's approval down another few %, because the voting public will blame him for not compromising and reaching an agreement with the Republicans who have made eliminating all funding for Ukraine (an effort supported by 70%+ of the American people) their big demand.

It will hurt it, but only for the duration of the shutdown.

Not much. This is mostly about the bipartisan House obstructionist caucus.

Zogby, I know it's discredit never came out with Trump leading poll, if Biden was losing by 4 Zogby would of came out too with that poll but they didn't

Unfortunately, I have to agree with this. America is a very stupid place.

It's not a shutdown, it never will be because it will have to be retro pay, back pay for the time missed and Congress hates that even with SSDI payments there would of had to pay back pay

They will always tease us with a shutdown but in a Pandemic where inflation is 5 percentage pts it will never be one

A few years ago I would have agreed with this, but as the Republicans have tried this trick more and more often over stupider and stupider demands each time, their ability to pull this off has diminished.
