If reelected, I could either see him as cabinet member in a future Democratic administration (like attorney general) or even as Kamala's running mate in 2028.

None, because he's going to lose in November.

If either Fetterman or Shapiro win, I will leave this forum forever.

Could be anything. I'm just glad that people are finally realizing he's pretty much an ideal running mate for a hypothetical Kamala Harris presidential candidacy. I've been saying it since 2020.

VP (probably not for Harris, she needs to either pick someone to her left, from the midwest, or having significant strengths in a policy area that she is weak in. Tammy Baldwin is probably her ideal running mate.), or possibly the Democratic nominee for Senate on 2026. While he probably wouldn't win, it would be a competitive rave, depending on who Republicans nominated.

This is a bit of a tangent, but if it was up to me then anyone who makes statements like that and doesn't follow through would be permanently banned.

Maybe a House seat if he's lucky.

That would a step backwards, lol.

I'd say cabinet position like AG. Not necessarily VP though, even for Harris. Shapiro better fits that bill.

Serves a second term of Governor than either gets into a cabinet position in a Democratic administration or goes to the private sector.

It was a mistake to make that promise. I intended to make it ironically, but if you all REALLY want me to leave that badly, I'll try to figure out how to delete my account. Clearly, you guys won't stop giving me hell for a joke.

In the event of a reelection, I'm expecting he attempts a 2028 run for President before later being a candidate for Kamala Harris' running mate.  Beyond that, maybe he winds up in a future Democratic President's cabinet.

If nothing else I think he would be a good Secretary of Agriculture. Tbh I don’t care who it is so long as they’re from the south.

If he wins re-election (ideally with an outright majority of the vote) and maintains decent approvals during his second term, I can definitely see some kind of role for him in the next Democratic administration after Biden’s but can’t guess what this might be. His next term would finish nicely in time for the 2028 race and I can easily see some of the current D governors making moves towards the nationwide stage at that time.

Wins a second term, possibly runs for president in 2028. It's unlikely that he actually gets nominated, but he has a good chance of getting something in a future Democratic administration.

Elected POTUS in 2028.

Why?

I'll be running his campaign, and I'll be the best damn campaign strategist since 1992 James Carville.

Hey, a man can dream!

Win re-election and then nothing. He’s too white and Protestant for any democrat to appoint him to anything.

There is no appetite in the democrat party for that type of democrat to make an impact

Assuming he's reelected, I think he runs in 2028 but flames out early. He could end up with a cabinet spot, but I think there are other people in the party that would box him out of any real success at the national level.

Honestly, he might be considered too moderate for the Democratic party but he'd be a decent cabinet member.

He probably just fades into the ether like Brad Henry 20 years ago, but he's only 45.  That's young enough to wait around until he can make a senate run under ideal circumstances.  Who knows if Kentucky will still be this Republican in the 2040's?
