When there is some national-level (political) breaking news, MSNBC and CNN immediately display this as "News" on all their outlets. And most of the time, their current live discussion changes to discuss this immediately. This is what a "legitimate news source" should do, regardless if the disclosure and news helps the left or right.

Fox News does NOT do this. They either deliberately hide the story on the "second page" or don't disclose it at all. And even worse, when the breaking news happens, their 24-hour news channel would rather discuss ancient stories like "Hillary's emails," than discuss the important story that all other major channels are doing.

This has been pointed out, here on Atlas, over and over and over again, when major political breaking news happens.

It's straight reporting is objective enough. It won't get caught in lies on such things. The last whopper that I caught it on was announcing prematurely the death of Pope John Paul II, and it took back the story as would a legitimate news source.  When FoX News Channel starts analysis of the news or brings up tired stories to denounce Democrats it might as well have the sobriquet "FoX Newspeak Channel". At that it is as bad as Pravda was in its heyday with an unduly-sunny view of its side and  an unduly-bleak view of the other side.

The only valid reason to watch or read news is to be informed. Disinformation is even worse than humble ignorance.

OK -- so do foreign media cite FoX News? Almost never in democratic countries. Heck, Chinese state media are far more trustworthy on matters not in China than is FoX News.  To be sure, American broadcast news is much more splintered than broadcast news from other countries.
