I would not exactly watch them if I wanted as unbiased a report on the news as possible.

Of course not. It's a channel for the purpose of advancing the Republican party.

I used to read them to get a balanced report, but I can't stand it anymore.  It is so obviously slanted and they don't even try to hide it... and most of the news they do report on is sensationalist tabloid bullsh**t anyway.

CNN was the only broadcast station I received. Thatīs why I became a Democrat.

Fox doesn't report the news; they report OPINIONS about the news.  That's not news.

BRTD this forum is filled with liberals.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to guess that an overhwhelming majority of people are going to vote that Fox has an obvious conservative bias.

Even if it was an overwhelming conservative bias (as some claim it is), that still wouldn't make it al illegitimate news source, which some (not most) people here don't seem to understand.

What would make a news source "illegitimate"?

Good question (which makes his poll a complete joke).  There was a debate on that over the weekend regarding if bloggers were covered under the same protection as the press.  Somewhere in there is a fine line.

Fox new is like every other news channel. Tell the side of the story they want the people to see. There is no non bias news channel.

Well would consider them a legitimate news source just as I consider such entities as The Guardian or The Daily Mail legitimate news sources or Le Figaro or El Pais. Actually Fox News has alot more in common with European news sources, with their obvious biases and political affliations, than American news sources, which always claim objectivity. Personally, while everyone believes a non-biased source is always better, I consider such news source more honest and forthright than many that consider themselves non-biased "news sources of record".

Padfoot,

The forum used to be pretty balanced before the lefties here began a concerted compaign of harassment against moderate and conservative posters.

A lot of reasonable people have either left or taken a sabatical while the lefties conduct their attempted purge.

I don't know which is more laughable; the paranoid theory or the 'matter of fact' way in which it's described.

Look around.

Many of our most prominent posters of a year or two years ago have abandoned the forum.

Further, several have noted their displeasure with the vitrolic rhetoric.

I believe Harry Truman had a catchphrase about kitchens that might apply to that.  I won't insult your intelligence by reciting it.

hmmm.  I think the Wall STreet Journal is actually a legit news source, yet it has an obvious Conservative Bias.  I almost laughed at the obviousness in a story I read today, had to do a double take to make sure it wasn't an editorial.

But still, it's a good news source.  I honestly can't give a good answer re: Fox.  It was founded as a conservative answer to the supposed liberal bias, so of course it's biased - whether it's a legit news source though depends on how  you define your terms.  If I was following a breaking story, I'd be willing to watch Fox' coverage, although if there was a political side to the story, I wouldn't expected balanced coverage, I'd still expect to get the facts.

Certainly CNN is a legit news source.  I just don't really watch enough Fox to say for sure, but I would guess, as I've defined it, it's legit.

Further, several have noted their displeasure with the vitrolic rhetoric.

Many of the posters who noted their displeasure with the "vitriolic rhetoric" were the prime offenders (ie StatesRights and the older guy from Connecticut).

All these guys did was call Democrats names like communists and nazis and spew out their usual Bill O'Reilly/Sean Hannity talking points. Their hypocrisy was amazing.
