Yeah it was him. Weissman thinks so too.

Then why TF is Bragg fighting this? Why TF is Jordan seeking this testimony? All jokes aside neither are imbeciles and must know how this is ultimately going to backfire on jordan/ help Bragg. That unless there's something significantly more to their expected testimony.

They'll generate soundbytes for FOX and have something they can spin. Don't underestimate how much effort the GOP puts into keeping their alternate reality afloat.

Since Pomerantz left, he's not going to know why Bragg changed his mind.

Biden is polls @50 in Rassy due to J6 there is nothing RS can do about it, Trump already got the impeached twice and was corrupted on Russia Collusion but he was Prez when crime happened RS gotta get blue states not just win Red states and they know that there is no way they win even with DeSantis both he and Trump loses 50/47 anyways and blue wave is 53 not 60 with a 232 DH and net a seat or two in Sen

2008 wave Obama had Biden and they won 53/47 not 60

Biden doesn't have to talk about Trial of Trump he can stand there and say like last time whom was impeached twice, Trump corrupt

RS would have surely impeached Biden based on 230 seats not 220 that's why they haven't impeached Muyokus they don't have the votes

Most of Trump cabinet resigned in protest over Flynn scandal, Sessions included and Chris Christie was critical of both Trump and DeSantis

We already have enough threads of Trump's legal troubles, so I just thought I would drop this here as to Trump's impending trial about who raped who when. Trump wants to send a message to the jury that he would love to testify but will not to spare everyone the inconvenience of having to cope with Trump's security protocols. The judge did a LOL back.

What surprises me is Trump's lawyer here is Joe Tacopina, who having seen him on the tube, comes across as on of the biggest aholes in the Bar who has not been disbarred yet, whom any normal jury person would come to loathe. Why does Trump do that to himself? Never mind. No need to answer.

Ex-Manhattan prosecutor set to testify before GOP-led House Judiciary Committee in May

Quote
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee have settled a court dispute where the prosecutor’s office tried to block congressional testimony from former prosecutor Mark Pomerantz, according to a new court filing Friday night.

House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan subpoenaed Pomerantz earlier this month as part of his effort to investigate Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s indictment of former President Donald Trump.

Pomerantz investigated Trump and his business empire before he resigned from the DA’s office last year, and Republicans argue that his public comments suggest that the charges brought against Trump are politically motivated. In his resignation letter, Pomerantz said Trump was “guilty of numerous felony violations” related to his annual financial statements.

Pomerantz is set to testify on May 12 before the panel, and a lawyer from the district attorney’s office will be able to sit in on the deposition, the two sides acknowledged in statements.

Quote from an opponent to America's hegemony.

Quote
Its political comity has imploded. The Biden Administration celebrated the Oscar for the film Navalny, which mythologised the Russian ‘opposition leader’, by arresting its main political rival and Presidential candidate, Donald Trump.

https://johnmenadue.com/defeat-to-america/

He'd like a defeat of America in the goal to make it accept a multipolar world.

So many of America's foes support Trump.

So do autocratic leaders.

Quote
Collateral damage is already mounting. The presidency, constitution and democratic governance risk permanent reputational harm. US global influence and moral authority may not survive sustained mockery. Enemies look on with glee. It boosts their storyline of inexorable American decline. For them, it’s the end of empire show.

Take Russia and its paranoid, delusional, Trump-like president, Vladimir Putin. His Ukraine invasion is a total bust, yet hermetically-sealed Putin may be the last person to realise, insiders say. He got more, not less Nato last week when Finland joined the alliance. His thinking, like his army, is stuck in Donbas mud.

For Xi Jinping, Trump’s return to the limelight is a gift from the geopolitical and theatrical gods
Yet Trump’s shenanigans offer Putin a lifeline. The Russian simply has to stick it out until, as he hopes, his American admirer beats the rap and he, or someone very like him, ousts Biden next year. As in 2016, Putin will do all he can to help with disinformation, cyber-attacks and dirty tricks. Meanwhile, he takes a US reporter hostage to make Biden look weak.

“Putin’s narrative of international politics has three broad themes: democratic decay in the west, the failures of western foreign policy, and the decline of the liberal international order,” analysts Erin Baggott Carter, Brett Carter and Larry Diamond noted recently. The demeaning Trump spectacle reinforces all three of these supposed trends.

Xi Jinping, China’s leader, will be keen, too, to exploit any Trump revival to advance his plans for global hegemony and an authoritarian new world order. Beijing’s propaganda feeds off US domestic dysfunction, Washington gridlock, corruption, racial tensions and gun crime – to which Trump and his Maga minions contribute hugely.

Internationally, Trump’s antics give Xi a window to derail a distracted Biden’s democracy agenda and out-manoeuvre the US. “Trump’s foreign policy was shortsighted, transactional, mercurial, untrustworthy, boorish, personalist, and profoundly illiberal,” analyst Jonathan Kirshner wrote after Biden’s victory in 2020.

As Xi might say, what’s not to like? He would heartily applaud a repeat performance. For the Chinese Communist party, Trump’s return to the limelight is a gift from the geopolitical and theatrical gods.

Xi’s not alone. Israel’s failed coup leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Saudis’ Biden-baiting crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, and nuke-coveting, misogynistic Iranian mullahs are all avid Trump fans. Who knows? Perhaps North Korea’s lonesome dictator, Kim Jong-un, will start getting love letters again, sealed with a slobbery kiss.

The Biden Administration didn't arrest him so that person doesn't know what he's talking about.

NBC NEWS is reporting that Fulton County District Attorney Fanni Willis will bring charges this Summer in Georgia Election Probe.

Conclusion: Trump will be indicted for a 2nd Time this year and I would not be surprised if it happens before the 1st Debate.

Back to the hush money case, the NYT did an investigation the conclusion of which the factual basis of the case is unprecedented compared to previous prosecutions, and some issues before or after a conviction will go up on appeal that could take years to resolve.

My impression is that this case has considerable potential to backfire on Bragg.

Trump prohibited from posting evidence in hush money case to social media, judge rules
In his ruling, Judge Juan Merchan largely sided with a request from the Manhattan district attorney's office regarding what Trump can publicly say about aspects of the case.

Quote
The New York state judge presiding over the criminal hush money case against Donald Trump issued an order Monday restricting the former president from posting about some evidence in the case on social media.

In his order, Judge Juan Merchan largely sided with the Manhattan district attorney by limiting what Trump can publicly disclose about new evidence from the prosecution before the case goes to trial.

Merchan's order said that anyone with access to the evidence being turned over to Trump's team from state prosecutors “shall not copy, disseminate or disclose” the material to third parties, including social media platforms, “without prior approval from the court."

It also singles out Trump, saying he is allowed to review sensitive "Limited Dissemination Materials" from prosecutors only in the presence of his lawyers, and "shall not be permitted to copy, photograph, transcribe, or otherwise independently possess the Limited Dissemination Materials."

Doesn't go so far as outright gag order which would be best, but at least it's a good start.

Who cares? No tears will be shed from me if Bragg loses a primary or something. There are more damaging cases lurking. Trump is in big trouble

I wonder what it will take for Trump to withdraw or lose support in the primary. If he’s found guilty in the rape civil trial and then gets the 2nd indictment soon afterwards, could that do it?

I supported Trump hard in 2016 and 2020. But he needs to give someone else a chance in 2024, an election that should be a Republican win. Trump can’t win, and as Chris Christie said, Trump is running only for his own vanity to make himself feel better: he’s more interested in lessening the sting of his 2020 loss than in actually helping the country

I'm pretty confident he won't withdraw because of that. Losing support is more iffy but I doubt it.

But RedBan, he's a moderate on abortion! That makes him magically Electable! /s
And yes I think a guilty verdict on the civil trial might help but it will take a conviction and possibly a pardon from Biden on the condition he doesn't run for office to get him out entirely

Judge orders Trump to attend lecture on how not to use evidence to attack witnesses: report

Quote
A judge ordered former President Donald Trump to appear virtually for a May 23 hearing in his Manhattan criminal case after previously setting rules preventing him from using evidence to attack witnesses, The Associated Press reports.

Judge Juan Manuel Merchan added the video hearing to the calendar on Thursday, aiming to review the restrictions with the GOP frontrunner, his lawyers and prosecutors, and ensure that Trump understands he risks being held in contempt of court if he violates them.

"We'll set up the camera for Mr. Trump to appear wherever he is at that time and we'll do it here in the courtroom virtually," Merchan said.

Though Trump's legal team has requested to have the case transferred to federal court, which U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein is considering, the case is continuing in state court.

In an order this week, Hellerstein also scheduled paperwork deadlines and a late June hearing for the case, which pertains to payments Trump's company made to his former attorney Michael Cohen. Prosecutors believe the funds were used to repay and compensate Cohen for hush money payments he made during Trump's 2016 campaign to cover up allegations of his extramarital sexual affairs.
