He's the last Republican in Congress I'd call a Freedom Fighter.

Kinda out of place in his current party.

Of course, he'd also be kinda out of place as a Democrat, too.

America is referred to as the "Land of the Free" not the "Land of the free lunch." Our constitution which is the fundamental law of the land supports freedom not free lunches. The constitution is all about limiting the power of government and protecting the rights and freedom of the people. Every representative, senator and president is required to take an oath to support the constitution. Ron Paul firmly believes in the constitution and he takes his oath seriously.

Now I know that in your view of the world, government should provide you with everything you need. But that's not what the constitution says. You're entitled to your opinion of Ron Paul but you make a venomous attack on him because he is simply upholding his oath of office. That's totally unwarranted.

James S there is a recently adopted rule against personal attacks in the forum. In the past I would have responded to your attack on me with an equally obnoxious attack on you. But I will observe the forum rules and simply point out that your comment toward me contains nothing of substance and is simply a personal attack.

In a liberal democracy the debate of politics is the debate on where to draw the line between capitalism and socialism.  It is perfectly acceptable for people having extreme economic positions to participate in that debate.  Thus both libertarians and communists should be welcome at the table.

He's awful on economic issues, but I appreciate his consistency for small government across the board, unlike most GOP conservatives who want to take the government out of your pocketbook but put it in your bedroom.

Tell me, did any congressman actually came forward and said "I hate the poor"?
If not, where do you base the opinion that they do so? On your political opinions that, if implemented, harm the poor with a stagnant economy? Or is it that you're just too dumb to make any actual argument and use some geek chic insult because that's the best you can do?

His economic views are terrible, of course, but he's a true hero. He opposes the PATRIOT Act, the war in Iraq, and is consistently critical of Israeli policy. He's also one of the strongest voices against the drive to war in Iran.

I like Ron Paul, because he's the only one making the 2008 GOP Primaries interesting, especially by critizing Giuliani (In Your Face GIULIANI!) I'd say Congressman Ron Paul is a Freedom Fighter.

HP because of his foreign policy. That far outweighs his great economic views.
