Santos will likely be the last person to realize that Santos is done.

What does "done" mean here? I think George Santos is already aware he's a one and done Congressman and won't even bother running again in 2024, but if he doesn't want to resign the GOP can't easily push him out. McCarthy's certainly not gonna hold an expulsion vote basically no matter how bad the story gets. He can't shrink his majority safely.

"Done" as in "will be resigning."

As somebody who lives in Kustoff’s district that would be the only way I’d ever vote for him.

What would actually get Santos to resign at this point though? He seems incredibly shameless.

Santos is not resigning, so why continue talking about this?

He either runs for reelection as an Independent or the GOP picks Martins to replace him on the ballot in 2024 and Suozzi, Lafazan or Zimmerman beats them in a three-way House race.

This seat flipped Republican because of the atrocious messaging by Dems on crime and the economy in NY.

Suozzi may have lost this seat to Santos anyway.

I really only agree with the last two parts of your statement. The Republican sentiment is strong enough on Long Island that I don't think Biden carries Nassau in 2024, meaning Martins or whoever is the GOP nominee should win in 2024, even in a three-way race. Santos isn't getting more than 1%.

I think Biden carries Nassau and a Republican carries Suffolk.....Biden carried it in 2020, a Democrat has carried it since 1992.

Biden will win the county by 5-9 points.

I could maybe buy 2024 presidential looking like 2022 Senate in NY, but not 2022 Gov. People are more willing to break for state offices than federal offices.

Now granted, Schumer lost Nassau County by 3 in 2022, but he didn't lose it by 11 like Hochul did.

I'm thinking right now Biden loses Nassau somewhere between Schumer and Hochul's margin. I'd guess around a 5-8 point loss.

Because Santos' name is a big controversy tonight, a refresher on what we THINK we know:

A. His name is George Anthony Devolder Santos. Therefore his name is actually George Santos.

B. HOWEVER, he spent most of the 2010s going by Anthony Devolder. These are both his names, but he was using his middle names as an alias.

C. Therefore, it's not "George Santos is an alias for Anthony Devolder," it's both of those are his name but for some unknown reason he wanted to use a different name than the one he'd been presenting with publicly when he ran for office. Presumably there's a lot of stuff under the Anthony Devolder name he thought he could get away from by using a different name, but he was as far as we can tell still born as George Santos.

Our understanding can change yet again, but for now, George Santos = Anthony Devolder, but neither is quite a true "fake name." He just switched between one identity and the other when he went into public life to throw off google etc.

The date Santos resigns/is removed has a lot to do with how long it takes to find out where he got that 700K from. He won't be serving out his term.

I've also seen somewhere that he's also gone by the name George Devolder.

This seems a little too credulous.

We know that there is an individual, currently sitting in Congress, who has gone by the names "George Santos" and "Anthony Devolder" (among others).  It has been reported that this individual's name is also presented as "George Anthony Devolder Santos".

I'm not aware of any information that the above individual has committed felony or misdemeanor identity theft with those identities. Using aliases in typically legal in the US, absent any intent to defraud.

Those are his "names" insofar he's he's used them for non-fradulent purposes. What his legal name is, we have no was to know. Even a birth certificate would have to be considered suspect without additional verification. We don't have any idea as to said individual's actual identity or full history. I will be shocked if some form of identity theft doesn't turn up before his time in public comes to an end.

Ineligible to win Brazil's electoral votes by default. But there's no way he's winning Brazil anyway, they just elected a socialist.

George Santos is an alien. Not an alien as in illegal alien, aka someone from another country illegally in this country. An alien as in literally out of this world. He's from a planet called Krypton. His name is Kal-El and he's actually got superpowers. He's hiding them from us this whole time, but make no mistake...he has them.
That's the real cover-up here.

From Reuters:

Quote
U.S. Representative George Santos, who lied about much of his resume and life story, will be removed from Congress if found to have broken campaign finance laws, fellow Republican and House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said on Sunday.

"He's a bad guy," Comer said on CNN's "State of the Union" program. "It's not up to me or any other member of Congress to determine whether he can be kicked out for lying. Now, if he broke campaign finance laws, then he will be removed from Congress."

I'm not familiar with James Comer, so I'm just picturing James Comey with a fake mustache.
