If Gallego and Schiff both lose next year then every new Democratic senator elected next year will likely be a woman.

Yeah, but both are heavily likely to be the winners, I think. Lake has probably already hit her ceiling just by being so toxic, and Porter will have to take some unpopular positions to run effectively against Schiff.

Just absolutely ridiculous. Kim has actually put in the work to be elevated to senator. Murphy hasn't done any of the actual work to deserve this.

There could be three senators named Tammy all serving at the same time. I didn't think the name was that common.

Well that ended quickly. I wonder what made Norcross jump ship given it was heavily implied Kim was running with the backing of Southern machines.

This isn’t true, he declared assuming he had the support of southern machines, he wouldn’t have run otherwise. Anyways I think Murphy will be a good Senator for us and I look forward to voting for her next fall.

There’s still time for Kim to drop down to NJ-03.

The more I think about it, NJ-SEN discourse is starting to feel like early CA-SEN discourse.

Think about it, Andy Kim in this situation is Katie Porter, Tammy Murphy is Barbara Lee/Adam Schiff.

Everybody wrote off Porter (Kim) as DOA early on because of all the endorsements Lee/Schiff (Murphy) received, even though there was only one poll that we had at our hands (one that Porter (Kim) was leading anyway)

Months have passed and now Porter is seen as the favorite to become a Senator

My point being that yeah it seems like doom and gloom now; but don’t give up faith JUST yet.

I'd like to think primary voters (such as myself) will think for themselves and not rely on party bosses to tell them whom to vote for.

I like Tammy Murphy and I'll probably vote for her in the primary. That said, I wouldn't count out Andy Kim in the slightest. The party bosses can only do so much and Tammy hasn't been the most visible of first ladies. She's actually going to need to campaign and earn votes, something Andy Kim has proven to be very good at. So we'll see, but I think Andy is still the favorite.

Tammy Murphy will not win the primary.

I hope you're right because what happened stinks to high heaven, even by New Jersey standards.
I'm tired of all these rich people who never ran even for county assessor and suddenly get catapulted to high office just because they have money or fame (Tuberville, Vance).

New Jersey is VERY different from California. The establishment basically never loses in NJ.

Yeah Kim’s DOA

Hey isn't this the moron who embarrassed himself at the Eagles game last Sunday?

Tammy Murphy is Corzine 2.0.

She sleeps with the governor. Apparently that's enough for some party bosses.

Not sure what to make of this, I'm definitely for Kim. I don't necessarily believe he can't win anymore. Murphy seems kind of bland and just as someone who wants the office for personal reasons. Kim actually fits better into the Dem primary electorate in the year 2024.

Is this where I say “I told you so”?

Likely Murphy. Welcome to New Jersey.

I still think Kim was a narrow favorite even with North Jersey against him, because of his grassroots support elsewhere in the state. But losing the Norcross Machine changed everything.

If they split the Dem field, maybe Menendez has a chance of winning the primary?

It's not very common for younger generations, but it was a trend in the 1960's.

I don't think so. I think he's so toxic that even a split field won't save him.

I am surprised Norcross flipped but I thought Kim was going to have an uphill battle anyways because North Jersey opposed him and is the more populous part of the state. As for Murphy, I don’t care if she’s coronated because she’s the Governor’s wife, I just want good governance in Congress and I have seen good governance thus far from the Governor. The main factor in my support is foreign policy though, Kim has notoriously been soft on Iran, and that’s not acceptable for me.

I always believed Kim had enough grassroots support to overpower North Jersey, but not without Norcross.

Why would Norcross back Murphy? Does he have something against Andy Kim?

I have no idea personally. I thought he'd back Kim due to Kim also being from South New Jersey.

Maybe Murphy approached Norcross and made some sort of backdoor deal?

It doesn’t sound like she’s confident the North Jersey machines will carry her to victory all on their own. The fact that she needs Norcross seems like desperation rather than strength.
