I'm not too optimistic about Allred's chances as this is still Texas, after all, though I'd imagine he's one of the Democrats' top choices in this race.

It's definitely way more likely to happen than Florida. The Democrats' best hope to flip any senate seat in 2024 certainly.

Not really the primary is divided in FL between Matt Boswell and Rod Joseph once they get a nominee then they will be competitive FL has a late primary it's Aug of Eday and then you have MO if MT, KY and MS Gov and KS 22 there can be split voting too it's a Prez race not a midterm that's why it's 303/340 GA, AZ and then OH, NC, FL or TX we aren't winning 416

It's 2 yrs even for Barb Lee and we need more blk S it's probably gonna be Matt Boswell but Rod Joseph and Kunce and John Love only have donated pages up

Allred or S. Kelly are the best choices here. I kinda want to see Scott Kelly just because that'd be funny to see + I love astronauts in office. But Allred is also great.

Cruz will hammer Allred non-stop on Immigration.

Allred could promise to personally build the wall himself and Cruz would still attack him on immigration.

Voters aren't motivated to vote in a Prez yr like a midterm on immigration Blks are motivated on Reparations that's why Gallego is running to break the Filibuster

Biden is offering amnesty if voters are so concerned over border Biden would not be leading 52/48 over DeSantis and TRUMP

Yeah Ryan, Beasley and Deming's and Beto Lost in a midterm

Right now it's a 303 map but Obama won FL, OH at the end of 2012 and PVI was 52/48

Not gonna quote 2016’s long post, but I think it’s funny to think that Ted Cruz is somehow more popular than he was in 2018. Did we just forget his Cancun vacation in the middle of the worst snowstorm in living memory all of a sudden?

That said, I don’t think a sitting House member would be the best D challenger to Cruz. I think it would be someone like McRaven or Kelly, but no idea if they are actually interested.

I doubt many voters ever actually cared about the Cancun thing to the point of refusing to vote for him over it.

LoL John Love is gonna be the nominee if Colin ALRED doesnt 2016 doesn't realize blk people vote too and he said Cameron was gonna defeat Beshear and Matt Boswell is gonna be the nominee against Scott

Yeah Ryan lost because Vance ran under DeWine winning by 25 he didn't win Hamilton County like he should have the suburbs because DeWine made inroads there

All these races are gonna be within 5 pts and Blks are 5/6 percent of the vote so with white females it can change a race that's why we won AZ, NV, GA and PA and WI Gov

I don’t see any good argument for why he’d do better than Trump or DeSantis. It’s pretty clear in hindsight that the reason for his close call in 2018 was because of Cruz himself, not because of some O’Rourke stardom.

I'm not so sure about this. Never forget that candidate quality can change. In 2018 O'Rourke was inspiring and exciting, in 2022 he was a perennial candidate. Another good example of this is Bill Nelson, who went from winning by 13 points in a good environment for Democrats to narrowly losing in an even better environment for Democrats.

If the PVI is 51/47 to 52/46 we have a shot at TX just like Obama won FL with 51/47

Tbh Republicans probably like him better now than in 2018, when he had to work to even get the base to like him.

I don’t think Allred is the person to take Cruz down. I think they need a veteran who looks like he can shoot a gun and doesn’t look out of place in cowboy boots to do it.

Oh god, oh f**k...

What?

It means Allred isn't running for Senate. Quite frankly, though, I don't think any Democrat can beat Cruz, so I'm not too saddened by this. It could be an indicator, however, that the Democrats expect 2024 to go poorly.

He's not running for Senate if he's on the DCCC's leadership team.
