Thanks Suella, your contribution really helped keep Armistice Day quiet and respectful.

"Tommy Robinson" is involved in this - Musk has just given him back his X/Twitter account.

One of those organising the letters of no confidence warned: “Don’t f*** with the home secretary. If you come for the queen, the rooks, the knights, the pawns and the bishops will all stand in the way.”

All this shows is that the "source" in question doesn't actually understand chess.

Utterly pissed off with all of this.
My partner and I went for a Coffee in town this morning, after a really hectic work week in our NHS Hospital. We observed the 2 minute silence like everyone else.

Then, within minutes, she started getting pelters like "Go back to Palestine" and " Hamas" from local neanderthals.

She is secular and Turkish, FFS.

This country drives me mad sometimes.

Thanks, Suella. You c**nt.

Being briefed that Suella wants Sunak to call an election if the Rwanda policy is struck down.

And even said it should be a 'who governs Britain election' like Ted Heath did in 1974.

Surely they know how that ended up?

I've only seen it mentioned by Dan Hodges, who perhaps isn't always the most reliable of sources.

They are twenty points down and an election campaign typically takes between six and eight weeks (in the past they were usually a little shorter). If these rumours are correct, then she is suggesting that it would be a jolly good idea for an already unpopular administration to hold a 'snap' election in early January, as it would surely not be possible to actually campaign throughout the Christmas period, to actually...

Sunak already trying to 'both sides' today. But the fantasy of the 'perceived threat' that sustains the right wing these days took to the streets today. It wasn't quite to the 'January 6th' levels of delusion, but there were similarities.

This should end Suella's political career if we weren't in this current hellscape. I do think she really believed everything she said and is probably quite shocked it didn't come to pass. Real Truss levels of delusion.

The idea of holding a snap Christmas election, and expecting the public to focus on the ECHR and small boats, rather than cost of living, the winter strains on the NHS, etc etc... Words fail me.

*If* the reporting is accurate, I'd be genuinely curious whether Braverman actually believes this stuff, or whether it's a mad attempt to get the whole thing over with so she can run for Opposition Leader early next year while she's still relevant.

Speaking of madness, George Galloway is now an October 7 denier:

Disgusting, but mildly less surprising than it sometimes raining in Britain in November.

This is random, but I seem to recall Galloway taking part in some kind of discussion about the somewhat less contentious matter of fox hunting quite a few years ago. He stated that he supported the banning of it, but noted that he didn't like foxes as he once came back from a holiday to find a fox residing in his house. He (and others) spent several hours chasing it around the house. One of the funniest bits of mental imagery I've ever had.

Was he wearing a kimono?

Galloway now claims to support the death penalty, doesn't he? But he never actually took one of the several opportunities to vote for it in his 23 years as an MP - (the very last Labour people to actually do so departed, one way or another, at the 1983 GE)

So more than a couple polls as of late have had the Tories falling below 25% (latest YouGov has them at 23%, another one the other day had them down 48-24), just noise or is the bottom starting to fall out?

Use the swings from Yougov's Welsh polls, they have been reliable when applied to the national British picture.

The Prime Ministers (current and former) standing together at the Cenotaph yesterday. It wouldn't be *that* much of an exaggeration to say that they all despise each other - particularly those from the same party! This has also been the case at other points in time. Forty years ago, for example, it would have been Thatcher, Heath, Wilson, Douglas-Home, Macmillan and Callaghan.

James Cleverly in No.10 via the front door - expectation he’s being sent to the Home Office to replace Braverman.

Of course he holds a not-exactly-unimportant position at the present time. Hunt to Foreign Office, and a more palatable (to the right of the party) figure at the Treasury?

He needs to bring this energy every day, he's probably doomed anyway but at least the public would respect him. Well done!
