I've always wondered why people so often start a poll and then declare in the initial choice that one selection is the "obvious" one.

Anyway, Bob Dole is a good man.

Having a deep hatred of Bob Dole is hard to do.

He seems like a good guy.

He's starred in Viagra commercials and a Pepsi commercial with Britney Spears.

It takes a big man to do that.

Some day I hope to be that kind of family values party monster.

There was nothing too awful about him, but he wouldn't have made a good President. He was pretty much a cookie-cutter conservative politically with the exception of being a deficit hawk, which is why it was sad to see him sell out to the supply-side wing of the party in his 1996 campaign.

Do you like the guy?  or do you simply believe that he is just so-so, since anything remotely so-so is far better than that jackass you speak of??

Well said on all points Phil.

I'll also add that of all the politicians I've meet, Bob Dole was the most down to earth poltician that I've ever met.

I know I'll get laughed at this but he SHOULD have been elected in '96!

Anyone who has been a major part of the Republican party establishment since 1980 is someone I don't want running a country, or a district council for that matter.

Dole was part of the establishment before that...and basically got branded a liberal by the reagan types because Dole favored some tax increases to balance the budget.

I know that he was a major Republican even before the Reagan 'Revolution', I was more referring to the vile foreign policy which Reagan enacted and Bob Dole supported, not to mention his way-too-generous love-in with many major semi-mafia groups corporations. (Which I suppose doesn't make him that different to most other Republicans since well... Lincoln got shot.)
