Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

Koop was a great man, who kept his own strong, and on some matters pretty unpleasant, moral views while at least attempting (not always succeeding, but attempting) to do his job in the more value-neutral way that he believed a vast and diverse polity deserved. I don't share the currently fashionable Fauci hate, but he's nowhere close to the same league.

Surgeon General under Reagan. A well-known Evangelical pediatrician who was appointed with the expectation that he'd use the office as a socon brickbat but turned out to--albeit in an often fumbling or tacitly prejudiced way--resist immense pressure to do that and instead maintain the PHSCC's policy of prioritizing objective scientific and medical research. He was in the position for the early stages of the AIDS pandemic, his response to which has been both praised and criticized.

Ah. Thanks for the rundown.
I think I'd go with Koop here.

The one who didn’t want to keep Americans wearing masks for the rest of their lives.

One of the initial leaders of the Religious Right and Surgeon General under Reagan. However, as Surgeon General, he said that abortion isn’t traumatizing and condoms prevent AIDS. He also pushed for smoking bans.

Dr Fauci for believing in reality and not delusional fantasies.

One thing I'll say for you as a poster is that you don't throw many screwballs.

The (D) vs the (I/O) results are almost interesting.

Very interesting, I would say. It suggests that strongly approving of or very much liking Fauci has become about as pure a Democratic partisan issue, as opposed to a left-right ideological issue, as you could wish to see.
