That was one of the most dreadful set of penalties I've ever seen.

Well, pace yourself because tomorrow there could be more. Wink

Despite all the upsets and surprises, I think it's becoming fairly obvious that Brazil and France are the big dogs of this world cup. Morocco is the very surprising dark horse. They have only conceded one goal so far, and that was an own goal against Canada. Ridiculously strong defence.

Also, good god, those Spanish penalty kicks were dreadful.

Both matches tomorrow have a decent potential for an upset, if we can call Switzerland beating Portugal an upset. Morocco beating Spain certainly would be one, but I don't think you can totally count out Morocco either.

Nice pick.

Loved this match!! Portugal is much better without Ronaldo playing. Also, karma is a b***h as the player who substituted him, Gonçalo Ramos, scored 3 times, a hat-trick.

No more questionable teams left in the tournament - now only big matches with big teams.

Also, Fox just called the quarterfinal the "Elite Eight"... 🤦‍♀️ I hate living in this country.

OK, if we look at the history, we could consider Morocco an underdog because its squad had played the Round of 16 only once before, in 1986.

But Spain isn't a giant in the history of the tournment too. The Spanish squad was in the top 4 only twice: 1950 and 2010.

If we look not at the history, but in how the present squads are playing, before the win againt Costa Rica, Spain 2022 wasn't considered in the group of the top teams. Before the tournment starts, most people talked about Brazil, Argentina, France, England, Portugal

On one hand, I don't want Portugal to win because it'll make Ronaldo a god, but on the other hand I want them to win so he'll retire on the spot and go away... When Leāo scored the last goal, you could see all the Portugal players looking happy and running to congratulate him, while Ronaldo just walked with little expression on his face.

He's being completely trashed by the media around here, because of his attitude. Specially the one today in which he left the field while the rest of the team was celebrating. Many accuse him of becoming a factor of distability in the team and no longer an asset, and for wanting all the attention and the spotlights on him, rather on the team and his teammates.

Brazil defeats Croatia 2-0
Argentina Defeats Netherlands 3-1
Morocco defeats Portugal 0-0 on penalty kicks
France defeats England 2-1 AET

I think you have Morocco wrong and Argentina will not win by as much.

England could do it, but they need a solid 2 half effort.

Pretty much everyone said Spain will beat Morocco too, and Spain came into the tournament as a stronger team than Portugal.

Portugal have more firepower than Spain and Morroco's defense is crocked after that effort. It's a much more difficult game and pre-tournament most people who know something about the game would have ranked Portugal above the tiki taka machine, as good as Spain were in Euro 2020+1.

I genuinely think all 4 of the matches could easily go either way.

My predictions, which will come back and bite me on the arse on Saturday evening....

Brazil 1-1 Croatia (Brazil win on Penalties)
Argentina 0-2 Netherlands (AET)
Morocco 1-3 Portgugal
France 2-4 England

Continent of the countries of the top 8 in the World Cup.
Only one correction: green is South America and not Latin America

Sometimes, the top 8 doesn't tell us about the final. In 1958 and 1994, Brazil was the unique non-European in the top 8 and became the champion. In 2010, there were only 3 Europeans, the lowest number, but these were the 3 that reached the podium: Spain, Netherlands, Germany

At a glance, there are errors - USA was not in the top 8 teams in 1950 by any metric.

Luis Enrique out as Spain Manager.

Got to think the job is Pep Guardiola's if he wants it.

The job has already been given the the now ex-U21 coach.

Guardiola will never get it unless there's a revolution of some kind and suddenly the Spanish FA is full of Podemitos. Right now it's already a Vox-PP circlejerk and Guardiola literally stood on a Pro-Catalan Independence list.

Well, at least we're in agreement that he's going to be offered something.

Personally, I think England would be fools not to hire him if they need to replace Gareth Southgate, but "muh English Manager" means they're probably stuck with Graham Potter.

It's not going to be Brazil either. They lost. Croatia advances and will play Netherlands or Argentina.
