Milei's crazy; Project 2025 is scary.  Big difference.

Milei's a "Jesse Ventura" or "Beppe Grillo" novelty.  Trump's gone way beyond that.

He's almost sympathetic here, but my Lord Argentina, you seem to be in for it.

In the runoff, Massa appears to have only won three provinces: Buenos Aires, Formosa, and Santiago del Estero. Using numbers from my post earlier in this thread about a hypothetical electoral college based on the US model, this would have produced a 238-91 win in favor of Milei.

The fact that his sig says "I am also a gamer on Youtube" might give you a hint of where he's coming from.

Yep, but unlike the US which is winner takes all, in Argentina the EVs were allocated proportionaly to the numbers of votes of each candidate by province. This method was used in 1983 and 1989, but it was abandoned after the Pact of Olivos in 1994.

Not sure how real this is, but looks like anti-Peronist consolidation around Milei.

That would be a much better system if we had that.

Comparing results of the Buenos Aires suburbs for this election vs 2015:

* Starting from the north, home of the wealthiest municipalities in the country, Milei won 63% in Vicente López when Macri won 70% and 65% in San Isidro when Macri won 69%

* The middle class/mixed northwestern municipalities saw fairly small shifts either way (Milei flipped San Miguel but Massa flipped San Martin) but the Peronist strongholds on the outskirts saw more substantial moves towards Milei with Jose C. Paz going from 34% Macri to 40% Milei and Moreno 36% Macri to 41% Milei.

* The poorest municipalities west/southwest of the city universally swung to Milei: 35% to 40% in Merlo, 36% to 39% in La Matanza, 41% to 48% in Ezeiza, 43% to 47% in Esteban Echeverría, and 34% to 40% in Presidente Perón

* The working to middle class southern/southeastern suburbs nearest to the city generally moved towards Massa: 52% to 58% in Avellaneda, 52% to 56% in Lanús and 55% to 57% in Quilmes. There was also a substantial shift in La Plata towards Massa, going from 42% to 50%. However, the poorer districts further out were more favourable to Milei: 41% to 44% in Berazategui and 31% to 37% in Florencio Varela

He actually removed most ministries. Argentina will only have 8 ministries: Economy, Justice, Human Capital (seems like a "literally everything else ministry"), Security, Defence, Interior, foreign affairs and Infrastructurr

Why the hell is Milei keeping two ministries doing the exact same thing? (Security and Interior)

Security is police but Interior is actually immigration.

The role of the Interior ministry in Argentina is to assist the president and the chief of staff on issues related to the  internal governance of the nation, as well as preserving its republican, representative and federal character.

The main dependencies of the ministry are the NAPER (civil registry), the Migrations Directorate General, the Road Safety National Agency (later transferred to Transport), Civil Protection and the Nation's General Archive

It was established on March 5, 1854 (Wikipedia is a wonderful source for this stuff)

The Interior minister will be Guillermo Francos, who is an experienced politician that worked for Daniel Scioli (the peronist rival of Mauricio Macri in 2015). The relationship between central and provincial governments (the president and the governors) will be one of his main tasks

As for the "Human Capital" ministry,  it incorporates the following departments: Social Development,  Health, Labour and Education.

Among the ministries cut by the chainsaw (abolished): Environment; Science, Technology and Innovation; Culture; Territorial Development and Habitat;  Women, Gender and Diversity

What was so appealing about him?  He seems like a libertarian and always thought libertarianism only benefits very wealthy in society while bad for everyone else?

Argentina has 143% inflation. Massa, the candidate who Milei was running against, has been economy minister for the past year and a half as inflation has surged. Massa spent $8 billion handing out goodies to voters in advance of the election, and notably promised to abolish taxation entirely, while also scaling up such goodies and expanding welfare and handouts in general. He's the latest of the Peronists who have spent decades running Argentina into the ground, and the voters finally decided they'd had enough.

I get why people wanted Massa out, but why not vote for Bullrich who would move away from Peronism but not go for something crazy like libertarianism.
