one of the best written sitcoms of all time.  Imagine if Friends or HIMYM was as well written?

Extremely funny and well-written show that my superfan friend and I still quote to each other all the time.

My love for the show also makes it much easier for family and friends to pick out gifts for me during the holidays:

FS. When I was younger, I was obsessed with this show for a time, and watched several reruns of it. Betty White, who is the last surviving (and oldest) of the Golden Girls, will become a centenarian next year.

OMG.... It's one of my literal Top 10 favorite things in this Whole World.... it's right up there with stadium-style nachos and cheese for God's sake..

I know every line.  Literally EVERY LINE.  and every line 3 minutes before it's even said.

One of the best examples of a show that is even more popular somehow 36 YEARS after it debuted.  I'm as old as the show is actually, we both turned 36 this September.

The writing on The Golden Girls is magnificent.... it truly is so sharp, so clever, so right on, and so bold for the time period - the writing, delivered by four seasoned pros (Bea, Betty, Rue, and Estelle) makes for two elements alone that make TGG one of the best damn f-ing sitcoms in history.

I have fond memories of watching that show with my aunt (along with Married With Children).

Good times, mang.

My grandma loves it, and I've bonded with her watching episodes together sometimes. I haven't seen every episode, but it's kind of one of those shows that's impossible to hate.

Not quite, but they have a sister channel called 5*. Channel 5 does show similar programmes but they are still one of the five main channels, so they show news and more general entertainment as well.

Do users know that Golden Girls was a Spin off of Empty Nest Drefus the Dog was on both Empty Nest and Golden Girls it's ok school

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0571579/

https://www.google.com/search?q=dreyfus+on+Golden+girls&oq=dreyfus+on+Golden+girls&aqs=chrome..69i57.9975j0j4&client=ms-android-boost-us-revc&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8

After knowing that I stopped watching that, it's too old

Dorothy leaves the show at the End and married Leslie Nelson whom was Blanch tv uncle to move to GA and the Girls start without Dorothy their Hotel business

Rose Nylon dates a midget because she dreams her father returned as a midget in her dreams

The Girls hires a housesitter thought she was psychic and cast a spell they thought she did voodoo because she was Blk

These are all episodes everyone memorized already

The story line about Blanche's gay brother was very much ahead of it's time.

The story line about Blanche's gay brother was very much ahead of it's time.

That may have been the first time a gay man spoke with a thick Southern accent on a TV show... crazy to think that but it's rare you see it these days...

Clayton was from the Deep South.

Clayton (Monte Markham) to Blanche (Rue McClanahan): We're getting married.
Rose (Betty White): Clayton, That's impossible.  Brothers can't marry their sisters!  Oh that's right - you're from the South!

hahaha

Massive FS. I used to be a closet-watcher of the Golden Girls, but I was found out a few years ago, lol. It's definitely a comfort show for me sometimes.

Talk Elections is like 45% gay men myself included so we are a VERY biased

You might be surprised by how many people enjoy it but don't necessarily admit it. This poll sort of reflects that, considering it's polling at 26-2.

The story line about Blanche's gay brother was very much ahead of it's time.

The show was ahead of its time in many ways really. There was also the episode where they thought Rose might've been infected with HIV through a blood transfusion. This scene was definitely one of the best, and definitely Blanche at her best.

Proud to be a member of this Forum.  A massive majority for Freedom Show... you have all made me feel so good to be a fan of Dorothy, Sophia, Rose, and Blanche... and one of the shows that went so underrated for so long, but always was on TV somehow, and today is receiving a enormous recognition as a truly great television program 35+ years after it first aired
