Here's the full video for context:

I don't think that there's anything offensive or racist over what Biden said. Biden is almost 50 years old than Matsuyama - he probably thinks of anyone younger than 40 as a "boy" or "girl". He also said Matsuyama's name a few seconds later. He also was speaking in a jovial manner.

Atlas users of East Asian descent, are you guys offended by this?

If Trump had said this and Twitter liberals were melting down about it, even I would be like "come on guys..."

There is nothing wrong with the statement, but if Trump had said this it would have been torn to shreds once again by the media.

This. However, Trump has a long history of racially insensitive remarks and outright racism/sexism. That's not the case with Uncle Joe.

No one is outraged over Biden's statement, LMAO. They're calling out the hypocrisy of the twitter-left. "kids in cages", "Japanese boy", ads discouraging brown people from coming to US  and other things libs "surprisingly" stopped to care about. It's you guys who has been faking outrage in 4 years  Roll Eyes

Silly outrage culture has its place in the Very Online Left as well as the Very Online Right.
This is what happens when you continue to be politically-inclined but lose brain cells.

Trump has a history of saying a plethora of racist stuff. Trump supporters don't actually care about racism. Only white grievance backlash.

Are you calling NyT, WaPo, CNN etc "Very Online Left" or do you doubt that they would publish a lot of fake outrage stories, if Trump said that? Man, Maddow, CNN's Fredo, Don Lemon and other would be screaming r-r-r-acist, and Acosta would ask "tough" question about it  Angry

That's why you don't care any longer about "kids in cages", ads discouraging brown people from coming to US or deal with Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras to sent troops in order to - I quote Psaki - "“the objective is to make it more difficult to make the journey, and make crossing the borders more difficult"? Ok, Orange Man Baaad.

The "Fourth Estate" has its own set of flaws and self-conceited beliefs, distinct from angry blowhards online.
Yes, I do agree they'd also cast this as some massively bad moment on Trump's part, using whatever link they could argue exist and whatever set of arguments necessary to cast him in terrible light regardless of the actual facts.

Frankly, I think both sides are being hypocrites on this

We all know that If Trump have said that The Twittter left would have gone crazy and it would have gotten Major coverage on CNN and MSNBC

on the other hand, I don't for 1 one second believe the sudden outrage coming from the Same people who spent most of 2020 agreeing with BS like this

Do any of the people who are screaming "But if TRUMP had said it!" care the slightest bit that the people who were offended by what Trump was saying were the people he was actively targeting with racist rhetoric, while (as is almost always the case so far with Biden) it appears mostly whites getting "offended" on behalf of non-whites they don't otherwise care about?

To be fair, I think it's helpful biden does stuff like this because it's hard to make him the face of the PC woke police in the minds of voters because he's a guy who's done tons of stuff that can be cancellable.

Lol is there some historical precedent where calling a Japanese guy "boy" is racist? Biden certainly isn't a saint when it comes to racial issues but there's a big difference between that and if it were a black guy.

isn't that often the case, no matter who said the racist* thing?

Also, this thread is the only place I've heard about this story.  Perhaps the OP reads more MAGA websites than I do.

* or non-racist, depending on the political affiliation of who said it

Not one bit.

I'm used to being called a boy by Asians and non-Asians of all ages. I think it's funny, if anything to be still called a boy even at the age of 30+

Someone Person A dislikes says something harmless that could be twisted into being “offensive”:

Person A: “This is outrageous! They must apologize immediately and supporters of this person must disavow!”

Someone Person A likes says something harmless that could be twisted into being “offensive”:

Person A: “Oh come on, they didn’t mean it like that. Stop taking these things out of context and getting offended by everything.”

I think it's weird that some adults are referred to as "kids" just because some other adults are a lot older, but whatever.

This is not actually racist but let's not act like the left wouldn't all be screaming about it if someone with any kind of right leaning political affiliation said it.

And past statements have nothing to do with it. If someone who's never made a racist comment before uses the N word it's still racist and something non racist doesn't suddenly become racist because an otherwise racist person says it. Something is either racist or its not.

Didn’t he accidentally refer to black kids as “roaches” during his bizarre pool / leg hair ramblings?

Arizona Iced Tea and President Johnson are both correct. Trump does have a lengthy record of making racist or sexist remarks, and he would have been criticized extensively by the media had he made these comments.
