At least the people of Texas (A) are alive to boil the snow and (B) were not put in that position by Ted Cruz.  Those who died of COVID-19 in NY nursing homes, only to become falsified statistical items after their deaths were brought to that fate by Andrew Cuomo, and they are no longer alive.

We have 5 pages of thread of "outrage" against Cruz.  Where's the outrage thread against Cuomo?  Or is that inconvenient?  Why isn't that 5 pages long?

Combine the USGD thread on Cuomo & the gubernatorial thread from the point at which only his latest scandal broke out, & you get - surprise, surprise - 5 pages. Add in the mention of his previous COVID scandals in the gubernatorial thread, & it's much longer than this thread.

So, pure disingenuousness of your failed attempt at a whataboutism aside, why are you literally just so wrong all of the time that it's not even funny anymore? Really, it's just so terribly sad.

Disingenuous?
Who would have thought?

I've seen multiple reliable sources saying that it is NOT a real tweet.

Though you have to admit, that it is still really funny.

This particular fit of whataboutery by Fuzzy is particularly disingenuous because virtually every Democrat on here hates Cuomo.

Well, yeah, Cuomo does suck, that doesn't excuse Cruz though.

But nobody except Fuzzy is trying to excuse Cruz. What we're doing (& what VAR was participating in there) is calling out Fuzzy on his bullsh*t claim that Atlas' Dems are excusing Cuomo & therefore have no leg to stand on by criticizing Cruz. In effect, we're trying to make clear for Fuzzy what you just said: "we all agree that Cuomo sucks, & here's the proof (which is what VAR was helping to share) that we agree with that, so you need to stop making up sh*t to excuse Cruz, Fuzzy, because he also sucks here."

EDIT: VAR beat me to it, & in a more succinct manner to boot Tongue

Fuzzy demonstrates the tribalism that's consumed the Republican Party.  When a Democrat is a HP, most Democrats are quite willing to admit that.  But when a Republican is a HP, very few Republicans will admit it; their loyalty to the cult party is above all.

Similarly:

We need to get back to a point where people aren't reflexively embracing or opposing things because of what the other side does or does not do and instead do so because it is the right thing to do.

Chances are, all other things being equal, if your congressman took a three day vacation to, say, Panama, and then came back, it's very unlikely you actually ended up worse off for it. Can we please not forget (or mislearn) how constituent services work?

Broken clock moment.

This isn’t how constituent services work during a crisis. Staff are great at relying information or arranging pre-existing services but you need the office holder to be leading, organising and pushing on the response work- even for something relatively low-key, let alone a major crisis.

The people in agencies pick up the phone a lot faster and with a lot more fear when it’s the office holder calling rather than there 24 year old staffer! At least 50% of constituent services is pushing other agencies to change their practices

There is also the fact that many far left types would not hesitate to attack Cuomo even without this scandal and then with this nursing home scandal you have many more added as well, not to mention Republicans and conservatives that would be aghast by him prior to this knowledge anyway.

  • Did not read the brucejoel, VAR, or other responses
  • Read them, but forgot about them before posting his followup comment

Honestly, it's really hard to tell which is right, or if it's some kind of combination.

Quote
Texas GOP Rep. Michael McCaul on Sunday delivered a pointed rebuke of Sen. Ted Cruz following his much-criticized trip to Cancun, Mexico, as a winter disaster rocked Texas last week.

"Look, when a crisis hits my state, I'm there. I'm not going to go on some vacation," McCaul, the top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs committee, told CNN's Dana Bash on "State of the Union" Sunday.

"I know Mr. Cruz called it a mistake and he's owned up to that, but I think that was a big mistake and as for me, I was on the ground trying to help my people out and my constituents, and that's what we should be doing in a time of crisis," he added.
