He's a great believer in accountability -- as long as it's someone else's.

Terrible body language. Every moment says "smarmy lying weasel".

So basically, he's a moron. His kids were cold and he was trying to be dad. Okay, fine. Why not let the wife take the kids away for a few days (some people would have issues with this too, but I personally wouldn't care), and be a man and stay in Texas to at least make it look like you're there for the people you represent? I don't think they need your gringo Spanish to order tacos at the Ritz in Cancun.

The other option is just take them to your DC home

Dan Rather always with the wise takes.

Although most of the Republican base dislikes the Bushes themselves these days, they still hate Dan Rather, and hold him to account for the "Killian documents" controversy, concerning George W. Bush's National Guard service, that led to Rather's ouster from the CBS Evening News in 2005.

Even Bush being the target, it is still an example of media overreach that people wouldn't want to let go of even if they now hate Bush.

You're right. It was a serious misstep on Rather's part, and he was properly sanctioned by CBS for it.

I really don't see why some people are arguing this isn't a big deal.  It obviously is.  The argument isn't really that Cruz would actually be able to help the situation if he remained in Texas.  It's more that it shows a stunning tone deafness and lack of concern for fellow Texans who are struggling.

Q: Why can we fly a helicopter on Mars but can't keep the power on in Texas?

A: Scientists are in charge of Mars.  Republicans are in charge of Texas.

Not a defense of Texas or any other Republicans, but if COVID has shown us anything, it's that neither party is exactly great at handling crises.

Funny but, Luke Bryan is so bad. He's the country equivalent of store brand plain ice cream or something. Most of his songs are party songs like this or else some fake-deep bullsh**t like "Humble and Kind" that resonates with morons.

It also feeds into preconceived notions that his main driver is self interest. A point was raised last night on discord asking if he was more so then any other politician and perhaps there are more who are just as bad if not worse, but Ted Cruz oozes it out every time he speaks and is way too obvious in that regards.

I maintain that modern "pop" country is just guys bitter they didn't make it into any of the 90s boy bands 25 years ago putting on a fake "country" voice to grift off the kind of people who think Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift betrayed their culture. Like, take the "country" out of that song and it's just a Backstreet Boys B side.

He's one of the biggest culprits behind how country became so bad over the past 10-15 years. (also his record label and others for polluting the airwaves with this kind of garbage) If a young country star puts our party songs in his first album, I get it, since 20-year-olds don't have much to talk about other than high school heartbreak and partying, but he's been pumping out the same sh**t for almost 15 years.

At least the people of Texas (A) are alive to boil the snow and (B) were not put in that position by Ted Cruz.  Those who died of COVID-19 in NY nursing homes, only to become falsified statistical items after their deaths were brought to that fate by Andrew Cuomo, and they are no longer alive.

We have 5 pages of thread of "outrage" against Cruz.  Where's the outrage thread against Cuomo?  Or is that inconvenient?  Why isn't that 5 pages long?

Combine the USGD thread on Cuomo & the gubernatorial thread from the point at which only his latest scandal broke out, & you get - surprise, surprise - 5 pages. Add in the mention of his previous COVID scandals in the gubernatorial thread, & it's much longer than this thread.

So, pure disingenuousness of your failed attempt at a whataboutism aside, why are you literally just so wrong all of the time that it's not even funny anymore? Really, it's just so terribly sad.
