If you told me a year ago the Republicans would nominate a black famous football player for senate, I would say it was either brillant or disastrous. No in between

I miss this Georgia:

The Reagan/Bush southern coalition was so awesome and was when southern politics was at its peak

You're still getting that Georgia - minus the 6-7 metro ATL counties since then that said "no".

Yah but I was obviously talking about the suburbs. The sunbelt suburbs that destroyed Jimmy Carter's hope's of recreating a new solid Democratic south and helped create the Republican Solid South.

Never forget!

Those Suburbs look great(The part of Georgia I would choose to live in) and of course 1980 also had this

https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1980/11/18/the-end-of-the-talmadge-legend/2c99cd91-6365-4908-8248-84fd16d4d42d/

Mattingly taking down Talmadge but sadly he ended up only being a one termer

You sure?

Honestly nothing Christian said is even wrong.

I don't think anyone is saying that what he said is wrong; but as with most Republicans he only seems to care about these things when his Father was the candidate and when it was something that personally happened to him. And then is perfectly fine with other GOP candidates who portray very similar character traits and policy hypocrisy.
To be fair

"I care more about my own father given my own experiences with him" is hardly surprising.

I remember that one video. Graham stumped for Walker until he was as red as the background behind them. Comedy gold.

'NeverTrump GOP' commentators are really embarrassing themselves as pundits/analysts. Geoff Duncan said on CNN that a stronger Republican would have easily won this race by eight points, as much as Kemp.

And to top it off, Michael Steele just remarked on MSNBC that "Georgia is still a red state: look at the map!"

Yeah I was struck by the stupidity of that argument as well.  Most states, even if blue, look red when you look at the map.  I mean, New York looks pretty red when just looking at the map.

Walker is a terrible candidate, but at the same time Warnock is a good incumbent. His commitment to getting results for Georgia over the past two years has been very strong and he's done a lot to make people aware of that.

The Polls overestimated Democratic Support once again in this Runoff just like in 2021.

Warnock will win maybe 51.2 % to 48.8 % so a 2.4 Percentage Point Win.

After tonights Performance JON OSSOFF for me is a sure GONER in 2026 regardless if it's a Biden or Republican Midterm bcuz he won't be able to replicate the Warnock Coalition from 2021 and 2022.

Ossoff is probably the luckiest Man in the Senate. The Reason: Warnock dragged him over the line in 2021.

Warnock's camp thinks Georgia is the next Virginia and will be an easy win for Warnock in six years.
Very curious/scared how Ossoff does in 2026. If he wins, its clear Georgia is becoming a blue state. It'll probably be Biden's six year itch so we'll see.

Remember that in 2026 there will also be an open gubernatorial seat (since Kemp will be term-limited then). That could also play a role in the outcome of that year’s Senate contest.

I imagine once once there are no longer popular incumbents running for re-election or a strong top of the ticket to carry over the open races, non-federal statewide races in Georgia are going to start to become nailbiters.

He sounds very relaxed and, surprisingly, a little more coherent than he usually does. Seems relieved he lost.

It did at least work out for them with Burgess Owens in the House.

The only Democratic Candidate who could probably win a Governor Race in Georgia is Rep. Lucy McBath simply because she isn't as off-putting as Abrams.

Was gonna say, Warnock’s metro margins in 2022 will probably be a worse case scenario for Ossoff come 2026 based on migration change alone LOL

Can't believe Trafalgar would over estimate Warnock at +4 when in reality the result is +3

What a weirdly horrible miss for them

The New York Times ("The Needle" page) is still estimating a +2.9 margin of victory for Warnock (when it's all counted and done for), even though his margin is currently showing +1.7.

Seems there are still many votes to be counted in large, high-Dem counties/jurisdictions.

LOL, are you kidding me! Ossoff ain't going to squeeze off anymore Votes out of Cobb, Gwinnett, Fulton, DeKalb, etc. Tonight was pretty much worse case scenario in GA for R's unless Trump is the Nominee. If Kemp, Chris Carr, Burt Jones or Geoff Duncan run for Senate in 2026 they will post better Numbers.

Yeah… The Dem nominee will be a state legislator. McBath would not be a good gubernatorial candidate. She’s much more suited for federal races and will probably be a House lifer.
