Closing the vote in my capacity as Deputy Speaker.

By a vote of 5-0-1-3, the amendment is adopted.

Seeing as the OP originated from Ishan, if I read this correctly, would I be correct in presuming that the original numbers are pulled from pre-reset Atlasia? They look familiar, certainly the 50.

Proposing an amendment

Quote
Section 4, Part 2, of the Federal Electoral Act of 2019 is amended as follows
Quote
Section 4. Voter Eligibility.
2. A registered voter shall only be eligible to vote in a federal election if they have made at least eight ten posts from their account in the fifty six days (eight weeks) immediately prior to the commencement of the election.

The required number of posts is 8. I think that was put in the last federal election act. It's not that long ago. Since then I have not heard people say there was a problem with it. 8 is once per week. I don't see the advantage of making it 10.

Doing so would alter the bill to clearly favor registration requirements over activity requirements, which I do not believe is a good solution. Using activity requirements for voting can prevent bloating of the game with obscene amounts of recruits without scaring away new members of the forum who wish to participate. Any off-site recruit or whatever that does not meet the activity requirements would be simply rendered irrelevant. Those who show an active interest would be able to vote.

As the creator of this bill, I have no problem with the amendment proposed by Poirot.

Unfortunately the deadline passed and the amendment has been adopted. You can introduce an amendment if you so choose.

Regarding post validity, there are a few fundamental questions to ask.

How much does someone who posts on USGD and every 2 months pastes a ballot into the voting booth add to the game?

How does it compare to someone who doesn’t post but browses the forum from time to time and spends 24/7 on Discord (as I’ve gotten older on Atlas I realize that this is more people than I initially thought) and every 2 months pastes a ballot in the South?

How does it compare to the same situation as above but said person also makes endorsement posts 24 hours before the booth opens so they can vote federally?

I think some post validity makes sense but I don’t think it should be particularly high unless you want to completely downsize the game.

Let's not be too generous to allow the kind of shenanigans that have been going on lately.  I mean, it's freaking EIGHT WEEKS, people.

I think this is a little bit high of a requirement, I’m not necessarily opposed to it, but I’d like to see the rest of the house decide where 8 or 15 is best, so I’m declaring it unfriendly for the purposes of granting a vote on the amendment.

I think some post validity makes sense but I don’t think it should be particularly high unless you want to completely downsize the game.

The shift towards extreme exclusivity could lead to other problems as well and in downsizing the game you tear open old wounds that with the return of certain folks brings with it great risk and peril to the game's survival.

Nay on the amendment.

Also, a note to Sev to clean up the numbering of the bills. I believe we have two HB 28-10s sitting on the floor at the moment, not to mention two 28-08s.

Thank you, I forgot to account for what the VP opened. Actually I guess there was a mutual error, but no big deal. Ted and I both have had a rough couple weeks.

Also voting Nay.
