Generally small, but the question is pretty vague. Obviously there are good and bad ones for both. That also applies for employees. I'm working for larger and global company and it certainly has some benefits, but there are flaws such as too many regulations within the organization as well.

Smaller and medium sized businesses obviously need more promotion from the government for a number of different reasons.

There are some variations in small businesses that lend themselves more favorable to be for progressive causes; independent bookstores and smaller chains often are socially progressive depending on the owner and I obviously have a much more favorable stance on cooperatives as an ideal. In some instances, smaller and disempowered businesses and associations at times make up the progressive portion of the corporate world and are useful allies and partners, or at least seek the same goal, against imperialist ventures.

Engels was a clerk in his families factory, Mao was a bookseller owning 14 different locations at the time of his participation in the CCP, and artisans today making various forms of artwork through mediums are usually left-of-centre.

Edit: important to give notice that these “small businesses” are usually in the minority and often have reactionary undercurrents due to them needing to be dependent right now on lowering costs which include labor wages and benefits.

Both are good and make all of your lives better, with a few bad apples.

Small business is better for the power of workers because it is weaker than big business.

The biggest, most fraudulent, most abusive, and most environmentally damaging business in the world is the United States Government.

Small business

My dad's a small business owner and I enjoyed working in small businesses more than in big ones

I'm not in love with small business, and a lot of its romanticization is just capitalist propaganda, but if the past 10 years have shown us anything, it's that big business is rapidly building a dystopia that's sucking the life out of society and must be stopped at all costs.
