I miss the good old days of late 2019/early 2020. The Klob-Pete feud was so entertaining.

I really want a Klob-Pete (or even better, Pete-Klob) ticket in 2028.
Give me a brokered convention, leading to a unity ticket that forces them to work together for four years.

The sheer sitcom energy of the whole thing would be glorious...

As Pete sinks deeper and deeper into the inexhaustible well of platitudes about "The shape of our democracy", Amy's grip around her stapler grows tighter and tighter, for the only thing that comes to her mind is: "Are you mocking me, Pete? Are you trying to say that I'm dumb?"

Both Vilsack and McDonough have been referred out of committee for a full Senate vote. I'm assuming Schumer will schedule votes for those two in the next couple of days.

What's the schedule for upcoming votes and hearings?

Vilsack and McDonough have cleared committee, but no Senate vote has been scheduled. I assume, however, that they will get a vote sometime this week.

Committee hearings/votes are as follows:

February 3
9:30am • Raimondo (vote)
9:45am • Thomas-Greenfield (vote)
10:00am • Cardona (hearing)
10:00am • Granholm (vote)
10:30am • Guzman (hearing)
2:00pm • Regan (hearing)

February 4
10:00am • Walsh (hearing)
2:00pm • Fudge/Rouse (vote)

February 9
9:15am • Tanden (hearing)

So, if the Senate moves quickly, Vilsack, McDonough, Raimondo, Thomas-Greenfield, Granholm, Fudge, and Rouse could all be in place by the end of the week or early next week.

Can Pete and Klob put aside their differences, and win re-election?

Find out this season, as the dynamic duo set out on a road trip across America. They'll work out how to stop Ted Cruz, win votes in the suburb, and maybe, just maybe, learn the true meaning of friendship along the way.*

Running Mates - 8/7 central on DDNN.

*Spoilers: Nah, Klob still tries to kick Pete off the ticket at the convention

I really hope Hawley's presidential campaign goes just as well as Gillibrand's did.

I hope it goes worse! Gillibrand at least had that quip about disinfecting the White House which aged disturbingly well. I can't see Hawley being as clever or having anything memorable about his candidacy.

So, Patty Murray is chairing the HELP hearing for Cardona. Even though the OR hasn't been passed, it is definitely close.

They need to add a hearing and confirmation vote for Garland this week as well even if it means pushing back Walsh’s hearing and/or doing a weekend session.  We need to start staffing up the DOJ ASAP.  Come to think of it, they should just work weekends and hold hearings/votes then until they’ve made up the lost days from the OR nonsense.

I know Pete's approval rating on this site isn't exactly unanimous, but just thought this moment was kinda important, and worth posting for posterity.

It's certainly historic and I'm rooting for him to do good work at DoT, but I'm also not going to give him an automatic pass for making history. It would be even more historic if he left behind a positive impact on the department and the country.

It looks like Ted Cruz is holding up the committee vote on Linda Thomas-Greenfield.

Gina Raimondo cleared the Commerce Committee by a vote of 21-3. It's unlikely but I hope that her nomination fails. She has a terrible record and her comments on Huawei are troubling to say the least.

Does Garland even have a committee hearing scheduled yet?   They need to move to confirm him ASAP

Cardona's confirmation is now being intensified as Cardona has defended the CT policy for transgender girls to compete in girls sports.

I kind of agree with Rand Paul here (I need to now go and throw up after saying that), but it is a tricky subject. I don't want trans girls to have an unfair advantage because they are physically stronger because they were assigned male at birth. At the same time, however, it is probably unfair for them to compete against those biologically male (I can no trouble with trans boys competing against those that are biologically male if they choose to do so). I have also noticed that the research is mixed on this and to be honest, there is no good answer.

HRC used to be a good organization, what the hell happened? Paul's line of questioning is insensitive perhaps but he is not "attacking trans kids" nor is he wrong.

While the GOP is obviously far worse in this regard, both parties are heading down a path of feelings over science. That's bad news.

IIRC the CT scenario did not involve any steps for the two girls to actually transition at a physical level.

Also Romney has joined in on the questioning and has lost all the #resistance goodwill Tongue

This could be the closest vote although it will still certainly pass.
