Still in progress, currently it’s 68-7 in his favour.

So he'll probably surpass Blinken at this rate, maybe Haines and Yellen too?

Good that Pete is going to be confirmed with a bipartisan vote, but I am much more interested in Mayorkas' numbers. With that said, anyone hear anything about the organizing resolution?

Apparently Bernie expects the OR to be passed at some point today.

I heard that, I was just wondering if they passed it with unanimous consent this morning before the Buttigieg vote without much fanfare. Obviously not, I guess I will just keep an eye on C-SPAN now that I can. Haha.

If that 100th Senator were to vote yes, ButtiPete would be confirmed by a 74 margin, the same as Avril Haines and 2nd after Lloyd Austin.

I keep hearing that Mark Warner is in quarantine, so I think it's him and he's likely not going to vote.

So Lee is no longer a #NeverAnyBidenNominee vote. Guess my prediction about Hawley was correct.

Interesting that (unless I'm missing someone) all of the Senate's Mormons voted to confirm the first openly gay Cabinet secretary.

I really hope Hawley's presidential campaign goes just as well as Gillibrand's did.

I mean, if you ignore the gay thing, Mayor Secretary Pete gives off a very Mormon vibe.

The Buttigiegs are really the epitome of conservative family values, not to the most extreme antigays but to everyday people's tastes.

Seems like the final vote for Mayorkas will be 57-42

EDIT: It's 57-43. McConnell just came in and voted nay.

EDIT (2): It's 56-43. Seems like C-SPAN was mistaken on their tally when I looked at it.

I miss the good old days of late 2019/early 2020. The Klob-Pete feud was so entertaining.

Alejandro Mayorkas is confirmed as the Homeland Security Secretary by the vote of 56-43 in the US Senate.

The most contentious confirmation vote for a Biden nominee so far. The Tanden confirmation vote will be even closer.

I'm out of the loop regarding the conformations, why was his vote so close in comparison?

An inspector general's report from 2015 stated that Mayorkas intervened to help some prominent Democrats with a visa program when he worked at DHS during the Obama administration. Also, some Republicans are opposed to Biden's immigration plans in general and thus voted against Mayorkas's nomination.
