At the very minimum, we should all offer critical support to the upcoming Biden Administration against the putschists.

These terrorists need to be stopped by any means necessary.

No. If anything I side with the putschists because I always support the underdog perspective. You remind me of this group that actually admitted that most of the imperialist ruling class supports Biden but still endorsed him anyway because MUH NAZIS: http://www.lrp-cofi.org/statements/election2020.html

Biden is the most bourgeois and reactionary Democrat in decades (while Trump is the least "bad" Republican, compared to Reagan, Bush, McCain, Romney, etc.) yet has gotten unprecedented support from supposed "radical leftists" who used to oppose the Democratic Party. Even Obama never had this kind of support and it is pretty disappointing, to say the least. I guess I shouldn't have expected much better from Trots.

I can't really stand with the MAGA movement though because it is cringe. I can support querfronts with some far-right groups but not the kind that think Obama wasn't pro-Israel enough, which is what most of the MAGA crowd are. I do stand with the woman who was murdered by the pigs. Working-class lives of ANY color don't matter to the pigs.

what are the chances they can track down most of these people?  on the plus side Trump freaks don't wear masks.

Well, feds, we'd sure love to help you there. Maybe you guys could have done a better job identifying the perpetrators if you, oh, I don't know, maybe ARRESTED THEM AT THE SCENE?!?

BTW, FBI, great job at your domestic counterintelligence unit missing literally a couple thousand known violent political radicals organizing storming the US Capitol itself. Great job all around! Now kindly pull your pants up from around your ankles and start doing your damn jobs.

Obviously too busy focusing on BLM and Antifa activists to deal with Extreme Right-Wing Political Formations...

J. Edgar Hoover would have had "all the usual suspects rounded up in a heartbeat" had any similar coup been attempted during his long (and glorious career).

Plus he had the goodies on ever single president since at minimum FDR, not to mention many US-Senators and House Members to call the chips on in the event that any cray cray politicians could pull stunts to endanger National Security.

*** Note I am not a J.E. Hoover Fan, but yeah the FBI has historically been "blind in the right eye" for decades ***

tbf, it is entirely plausible that the FBI has been successively weakened by lack of funding and skilled personnel over recent decades, and I believe recently we had a highly politicized political report that the current greatest threat from Terrorism in the US came from Right-Wing political formations, and not Leftist domestic political formations, and even foreign terrorist actions on US soil was pretty much at the lowest level threat.

Still, looking like the DC Police are doing their job and rounding up the "Insurgents" at their Hotel Rooms in DC and throughout Metro DC as we speak.

Smile... you are on camera in the people's house, no masks on for the most part.  We got CCTV all around the joint, and we gonna pick you up at your Hotel Rooms and Airports before you leave town.

Although some of these individuals might not previously have been on the Federal Domestic Terrorist Watch List, most of those who committed Federal Offenses currently are flagged...

It's a flip side to one of favorite movie Casablanca from the early 1940s, where Anti-Fascist Rick during WW II, ends up flipping the "Round up the usual suspects" line, while the German Officer in the French Territory occupied by the NAZIs tries to call for help...   Wink

No.

I'm not as far left as you are but I've been consistent on not letting Aughts #NeverTrump Republicans off the hook for Iraq War and neoliberal economic policy when it was clear they had learned nothing and forgotten nothing from the past 20 or 30 years. I'll even admit I cheered when Trump tore into Jeb! Bush on the Iraq War and 9/11 happening under his brother's watch. I still maintain that Trump is ultimately a symptom, a culmination of pretty much every pathological undercurrent in American society since the end of the Cold War if not longer and that in many ways he was the child who finally shouted that the Emperor indeed had no clothes.

That being said, what has been Trump's record since he took the oath of office? He has not inaugurated any populist or even centrist project such as his vague promises of cracking down on prescription drug prices or a huge infrastructure bill. Instead, Trump has pursued the reactionary policies of the Congressional Republicans such as an attempt to totally repeal Obamacare whose success would have left millions without insurance and a huge tax cut for the wealthy in exchange for the Congressional Republicans' servile worship of him. Trump did not end of his foreign wars and instead exacerbated tensions with Iran and Cuba. With the exception of North Korea (most of the credit for which belongs to the liberal South Korean government not Trump), he has not pursued any policy that might be remotely called progressive. His Supreme Court appointments has made decisions such as national "right to work" infinitely more likely. Trump has fundamentally governed as a reactionary conservative.

I do not blame Trump for everything on Covid-other Western nations make clear that high death rates were inevitable regardless of the quality of leadership. Still he has frequently encouraged dangerous behaviour and often undermined public health authorities, emboldening those adhering to lunatic conspiracy theories regarding the virus. With his defeat in the 2020 election, Trump embarked on a campaign to overturn the results of a legitimate election where his main opponent won. I don't see how such an antidemocratic, reactionary effort should be applauded by any so-called socialist.

What if the underdog is promoting a foul ideology? Would you still support them?

For that matter, what do you define as an underdog?

Whoever the bourgeois, liberal, "respectable" opinion is demonizing at the time.

For instance, in the 1980s the Polish People's Republic government was the underdog because it was being demonized by the imperialist ruling class and their liberal and "left" cheerleaders for defending the gains of the Polish workers' revolution against counterrevolutionary Solidarnosc fascists.

So you would side with the corrupt bureaucrats and Moscow toadies against actual Polish workers?

The fact that about 70% of house republicans still objected to the PA electors shows that the idea that republicans are having a come to Jesus moment, is complete fantasy. The republican party is very much a Trump cult.

Meanwhile Reagan was falling apart from Alzheimer's before his term was even over and one of the last things he would ever have remembered was California abandoning his party.

I cannot believe some people sincerely still believe this myth.

Of course Trump is not "good". I cast a protest vote for Jorgensen because Hawkins and the PSL were not running in my state. But at least Trump did not start any new wars. McCain and Romney would have done all those things and worse.

The fact that Trump is supporting $2000 stimulus checks while "hero of democracy" Mitch McConnell isn't proves that Trump is better than a typical republican.

Just because I don't think Jon Osoff has gotten enouch recognition for his win today, I think we have to drag this old Juggernaut out:

Quote
The Donald went down to Georgia
He was lookin' for an election to steal
He was in a bind 'cause he was way behind
And he was willin' to make a deal
When he came across this young man
Sawin' on a fiddle and playin' it hot
And the Donald jumped upon a hickory stump
And said, "Boy, let me tell you what"
"I guess you didn't know it, but I'm a fiddle player, too
And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you
Now you play pretty good fiddle, boy, but give the Donald his due
I'll bet a fiddle of gold against your soul
'Cause I think I'm better than you"
The boy said, "My name's Johnny, and it might be a sin
But I'll take your bet, you're gonna regret
'Cause I am the best that's ever has been

Wink

This was basically McConnell and some of the other Repubs today too:

So glad I saw that movie a few months back so I get the references! Time for me to go to bed. Work to be done in the morning ugh.

It's in the running for my favorite movie of all-time, easily. It's funny but I actually see it very similar to Raiders of the Lost Ark (also in the running) in some ways. Both have worldly American protagonists fighting Nazis, pining over a girl from their pasts, and dealing with annoying French people who stand in their way at every turn.

They basically sum up the American dream circa 1942, which I think was pretty much our finest hour, so I love those movies.

Is anyone else surprised that Trump hasn't commandeered the twitter account of one of his staff members?  I can imagine him sitting in the white house watching cable news, stewing that he's cut off from twitter.

Not sure why he didn't move to @POTUS but it appears he didn't. Still just retweets from his personal.

Biden finally crosses 270 with Pence certifying Vermont. We win (again)

I actually am getting tired of all this winning. Trump was actually right about something
