Deep down, I hate sex. So much to the point that the thought of physical intimacy terrifies me. I waffle on whether this is just a symptom of mental illness or if I'm just wired to be personally anti-sex. Romance never really had a major role in my life, and I feel like opening myself to a relationship (when I'm in my mid 20's and never did much as kiss someone) would just drastically interrupt my usual way of doing things. I think of people like Paul, Isaac Newton, and Bobby Fischer who were "married" to their passions or talents. Perhaps I'm mentally insane. Perhaps singlehood is just underrated. But conformity for the sake of conformity fulfills nothing.

When I was in high school, I phone banked against my second cousin, who is a US Senator that I disagree with on most issues.

I get a bit confused whenever someone refers to an Indian American as an Asian person. Most people from the Indian subcontinent are genetically closer to Caucasians than East and Southeast Asians. They should be considered white by the U.S. Census Bureau like their Middle Eastern neighbors. I also cringe whenever an overly woke liberal woman refers to an Asian person as a person of color. It's especially jarring when the Asian person has a lighter complexion than the average European. Terms like "people of color" only serve to lump together people with non-European ancestry as exotic foreigners deserving of special treatment and severely downplays the differences between these groups.

I love saying the N-word. Mind you, I've never said it about (or to) a person, and especially not a black person. But I use it all the time when I'm frustrated by something. When my computer is acting up, I mutter "You ing n" or when my coat gets snagged on a doorknob I say "Really, n?" It's just such a nice word; it rolls off the tongue really easily and it is a great way for me to relieve my stress. I'm just constantly fearful that I will slip up and someone will hear me say it.

The thing is that this all started because I lived with a roommate (who was black) who said it all the time, so it must have slipped into my vocabulary somehow, because up until a few years ago I never said it. This is all his fault. Damn n.

Race is a “social construct” in the sense that socially defined categories we use to label individuals don’t have to correspond to human population genetic clusters. I find US conceptions of race to be overly centered around skin tone (edit: misread what anon said).
